Photographers Note
Historic hotel El Rancho in Gallup.
Gallup is a city in McKinley County, New Mexico, United States. Gallup was founded in 1891 as a railhead for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. The City was named after David Gallup, a paymaster for the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad.
Gallup is sometimes called the "Indian Capital of the World", for its location in the heart of Native American lands, and the presence of Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and other tribes. One-third of the city's population have Native American roots.
Route 66 runs through Gallup, and the town's name is mentioned in the lyrics to the song, Route 66. In 2003, the U.S. and New Mexico Departments of Transportation renamed US Highway 666, the city's other major highway to Route 491 since the number "666" is associated with Satan and devil worship, thus it was offensive to some people and local Navajos some who are superstitious felt it will lift the route from being "cursed".
Formally opened December 17, 1937, The El Rancho Hotel was built by the brother of the movie magnet, D.W. Griffith. Drawn by the many films made in the area, Ronald Reagan, Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn and Kirk Douglas were among the many stars listed in the guest register. Autographed photos of the stars, Navajo Rugs & mounted trophy animal heads adorn the magnificent two story open lobby with its circular staircase.
They say, in Gallup there are the cheapest motels in USA. It could be true, this historic hotel was quite cheap. And what a feeling to stay at the same place as Burt Lancaster and James Stewart!
I WS two photos from the interior: the view of the lobby and an interesting piece of furniture. Enjoy!

Hej Małgorzato,
Niezwykłe zdjęcie pięknego hotelu.
Architektura bardziej hiszpańska niż amerykańska...
Miła atmosfera.
Serdecznie pozdrawiam!

Hello Malgorzata,
A good capture of this interesting architecture that has a very European feel to it. The inclusion of the backlit tree adds much to the atmosphere. Very good colours and clarity. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Malgorzata,
How funny, i was staying in this hotel in 1994 and see that it still exist. I had a complete different view back then, but maybe they did some renorvations on the outside. The inside was indeed classic with a lot of pictures from all the stars who ever stayed there.
Thanks for bringing this up, brings back good memories...

Ech sprytnie wplotłaś tę lampę w kadr Małgosiu. Miejsce atrakcyjne choc sprawia wrażenie nieco przesłodzonego. kontrasty swietne, kolory jak zawsze mocno nasycone, a rysunek ostry i czytelny. Lubię takie czyste i dopracowane kadry.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
Jurek

Hi Malgorzata,
This architecture is very interesting, your setting has a correct angle to catch its geometry, and the difficult light is controlled well, balancing the illuminated areas with the areas in the shadow.
Good chromatic contrast, it is an attractive photo.
Best regards,
Josep

Ciao Malgorzata,
una bella costruzione molto ben curata e con una bella architettura,
non era facile realizzare questa foto in ombra ma hai ottenuto un buon risultato.

Hello Malgorzata.
At one level (the upper) the building looks old European, with a half-timbered structure. But then the Mexican/Spanish influence is seen in the lower stone structure. Very good vantage point for the photograph, and a superlative note.
Warm regards,
Bulent
