Photographer’s Note
The Bistigraph
Bisti Badlands, Farmington, New Mexico.
Continues a little series of photographs taken on an afternoon/evening walk through part of the Bisti Badlands. Opinions may vary, of course; to some these badland photos, indeed the badlands themselves, may be "all the same", to others - me among them - they are an endless source of fascination and variation - something different around every corner.

Hello,
I really like this view. It resembles the landscape of Mars to some extent. The image is sharp and the clear blue sky compliments it well.

Hi Colin,
Although it’s the first time I see your serie, you can count me in the second group, the ones who think it’s a total fascination and variation...
I don’t know to which extent the Bistigraph are popular, but I’ve never seen this before. So on top of being a fascination and variation, it’s also a revelation.
The top of the hill reminds me some forts in India, where they use to take advantage of the geographic situation to fortified some palaces. And at the same time, the surrounding terrain looks like a volcanic formation of another world. The colours are fantastic and I really like the mix of rusty brown and sky blue. You’ve made a good use of the particular "stone mushroom" in the forefront.
Great "out of this world" landscape.
Cheers!

Hi Colin,
Once again, this photo of yours is amazing. Those rocks with beautiful ocre colors stand out so nicely against the crisp sky. Those formations are beautiful and your composition highlights clearly both the ones on the fg in the left and the large ones on the right. Honestly, you're eye for this shots is great.
Saludos cordiales,
Daniel

Hi Colin
Endless fascination indeed. Hard to believe that such landscape and such shapes exist on earth! The foregroud rock balances well the distant peak and gives a real sense of depth, while the colours and clarity are superb.

Colin,
This looks like such an interesting place. Such unique geological structures and formations. I like your composition here - a very good example of rules of thirds! My only comment is that it might be third of stop or so too dark - maybe it's just me or my monitor though - who knows?
Great work again!
Brian
