Photographer’s Note

The bridge, a part of the Hoover Dam Bypass, will be supported by a 1,060 foot twin-rib concrete arch, the longest concrete arch in the United States. The construction project, begun in 2005, should be completed in 2010 with a roadway almost 2,000 feet in length some 900 feet above the Colorado River. Concrete for the arches is carried in huge buckets beneath the cars running on the cables high above the future bridge.
