The Carpenter 1 Fire was a large wildfire on Mount Charleston, 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. The fire began on July 1, 2013 near Pahrump, Nevada, before spreading eastward. Carpenter 1 was seen for miles across the Las Vegas metropolitan area, and was the largest fire to occur on Mount Charleston in decades. After eight weeks of battling the fire, Carpenter 1 was fully contained on August 18, 2013. The fire consumed nearly 28,000 acres (11,000 ha). (From Wikipedia)

With all the negatively imposed sight, the pic. is most impressive, orange color ofvthe fire contrast the black smoke.
The distance from where taken not scaled by any object to value upon.

A very dramatic picture but the colours are very good. The smoke separates the scene into two different parts, a clear blue sky at one side and the flames at the other. An interesting note!

Hello Eleu, Fascinating view and superb shot but better not to observe it. There are sometimes control fires in national Park but not in this case. Always big loos, sad fate for animals. Two months to fight it, big fire indeed. One could think it is sunset photo but unfortunately, it isn't.

A powerful documentary scene, very nicely captured, and thank you for your note to explain this sight. There is such beauty in destruction, the colors here are as amazing as the most beautiful sunset.
Thanks for sharing

wildfires are really terrible but also they supply spectacular scenes like this one,
I have this also experienced and I though that it is insane,to admire the wonderful colors and the impressive contrast of the dark smoke against the blue sky, during a disaster...but that's life,
anyway,you captured the scene excellent!

That's an alarming wild forest fire which engulfing acres of land but a brave shot on your part indeed, a well done photojournalism at its best being ready at the right time with your camera. There's a lot of interest in the picture when amazing sky filled with thick dark smoke and the fiery red below and the close up wide view gives a good idea of what the landscape looked as the sun struggles to break through. Good exposure control deep in natural colours and & you have lots of detail there, not just for the content but also the tremendous quality of the image making it more dramatic. Even though fire can be so destructive you seem to have captured a moment to make it have some kind of serenity. Enchanting photography Congrats

This is always a terrible moment for the populations! We always have many in summer, but so far this year it hasn't been so hot and it rains once in a while.
A very good shot, it really shows how impressive it was!
