O.K., back to Red Rock Canyon, and the glaring globe of fire from high above.
Not all of the cities lights are contained to The Strip, nature has something to provide as you can see here…enough to cause this guy to shade his eyes while looking over the vast landscape. Or maybe he’s actually a ship captain, and it's just a force of habit to strike this pose?? :)
There are a number of rest stop/viewing areas along the scenic route through the canyon, and during one of our stops I happened to catch this moment of another tourist battling the bright light of the sun. And can you believe this, it was only about 6h30…the sun waits for no man in the desert, nor does the summer heat!?
That reminds me, time to go stand under the air conditioning vent! Have a great weekend everybody.
Thanks for stopping by.

Haha, I like the title. Amazing red striped rocks in the Red Rock Canyon. The guy has found a good place with a view. And at 6h30 he was already there. Early bird. So it was already so hot, early in the morning and in May? In September I had a good weather, not too hot.
Very pleasant composition.
have a great weekend

Pleasant landscape with these mountains and the good light capture, well composed with this man, tfs.

The surrounding area of Las Vegas looks fantastic.
Beautiful delineation of the different coloured rock layers on the mountain slope.
Best regards, Paul

A nice lookout point of desert scenery, Jason, and done well by added this guy watching, otherwise it would had been yet "another" desert picture.
Besides the great nature's sight, a desert can be a challanging placec to live, and also for photography.
Nicely applied photo and well allocated the pic. space.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

Thumbs up! I like your idea to build so clever composition. The background is great! Your note brings me back to our trip around Arizona. We have had a few stops on the roads of Az. Oh, I miss that week, as Malgo I'd like to go to the next trip. But I have to work. No time for a travelling.

C'est bien la seule lumière de Vegas que j'apprécierais. Je ne recherche pas les foules comme sur le Strip mais plutôt la beauté des paysages comme dans ce Canyon. J'aime beaucoup les lignes de gouge dans la roche.

Deserts everywhere seem to have a lot in common. From travelling across the Sahara I remember the bitterly cold darkness at 5:30, the pleasant warmth of the rising sun at 6:00 and the intense heat at 6:30. It must have been quite similar here. The man does well just by sitting there, looking very expressive with the gesture of his hand, and the background scenery is awesome.

The man takes the horizon in his perspective, he enjoy of the mountains in background.
Very well depth and perspective picture.
Excellent composition, nice captured.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

un luogo strategico dove mettere una panchina, il panorama è magnifico e mettersi a sedere per osservarlo come questo signore, è un piacere.
Bello scatto, ben conposto, il gesto dell'uomo è decisivo per la riuscita della foto.

A very impressive landscape and a fine picture with this lonely man. I guess he is looking for the nearest slot machine, it can´t be too far away. A nicely composed picture from daily life.

I'm gonna go with the sea captain thought if you don't mind, and I imagine he is surveying the desert landscape and owning whe the heck his ship has gone, and how he ended up here in the first place :) It's a great idea to have this human element included in the sat landscape here. I know how you feel about the heat too, earlier this week it reached a scorching twenty four degrees in Dublin, and Irish people were stripping off all over the place to cool down. For the most part, that's a good thing, but now again it's not fun having to flush your eyes with bleach to wipe away the memories of the things you sometimes see....
I still don't understand how you survive in this desert condition, but I guess it's the world you know. Many people don't understand how Irish people live in a country where if you stand still for more than five minutes, moss will start growing on your feet. The beauty of this site is that we get to share it!
Have a great Saturday.

Hi my friend Jason

Back to your country and this impressive landscape, till now I believe LV was a city in the middle of an uninteresting desert
You are proving me quite wrong with all the captures of the red mountains
So at 6.30? which time sun shop up there?, here in Summer at about 5, but not so warm yet at this hour, when as a child like to ride horses waiting for the green line, never saw it
Go, take Coke and rest in an air conditioned place, behave
Cheers and enjoy the sun at some time

the natural scenery in the background is magnificent, in spite of it being blurry, its textures and colours stand out wonderfully, the shadows sculpt it intriguingly and it evokes awe. I'm extremely curious though to know what the gentleman is staring at, he seems really captivated. I like very much how you combined this scene in the foreground with the suggestive view in the distance, a playful composition with brilliant colours and timeless atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

The shadows confirm it is 6:30 and the tone of the light confirms it is AM. The blurry background suits this photo well. very nicely done!
PS. If I said the top two caves are the eyes of the lion, would it help?

Very interesting subject with a nice selective setting DOF on the man
Very nice background on the rocks, it's possible to make a panoramic view without the man

speaking of Air conditioning...mine is broken in my car..gotta get that fixed - but it's about a $1200 repair job...why so much??? anyways, i don't want to think about that.
I know what this guy is going through here, lots of hot sunlight in the desert!
hard to believe its so early in the morning and i bet its already burning his white skin lol
not the usual Red Rock Canyon shot, but thats why i like it. I guess this would be a geologists dream!
see you around
