The Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye is an American all-weather, carrier-capable tactical airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft. This twin-turboprop aircraft was designed and developed during the late 1950s and early 1960s by the Grumman Aircraft Company for the United States Navy as a replacement for the earlier E-1 Tracer, which was rapidly becoming obsolete. The aircraft's performance has been upgraded with the E-2B, and E-2C versions, where most of the changes were made to the radar and radio communications due to advances in electronic integrated circuits and other electronics. This is a fine shot of this E-2 with a good light on it that shows very neat details including the ones of the "pancake".

I am surprised the Hawkeye is still actively in use, and you have captured it airborne in fine resolution.
I suspect small drones will make these guys and many others obsolete. Cheap small drones can carry out many if not most functions.
Thanks for sharing,

I don't remember E-2 model, but I know the AWACS as a air control system. I wonder by this construction as a part of plane without some problems for air-dynamics, for example. Another interesting presentation of the plane.

During the last air show here on 10 km of my home was almost the same airplane to see, also of the American Army.
A pity I have no picture, I was to late!
This a wonderful plane, or maybe the eyes of big brother in the world.
What a beauty my friend, excellent sharp and clear.
Nice composition, a lovely presentation. TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
