A dragonfly is an insect belonging to the order Odonata, the suborder Epiprocta or, in the strict sense, the infraorder Anisoptera (from Greek ανισος anisos, "uneven" + πτερος pteros, "wings", because the hindwing is broader than the forewing). It is characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong transparent wings, and an elongated body. Dragonflies can sometimes be mistaken for damselflies, which are morphologically similar; however, adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most dragonflies are held away from, and perpendicular to, the body when at rest. Dragonflies possess six legs (like any other insect), but most of them cannot walk well. Dragonflies are among the fastest flying insects in the world. (From Wikipedia)

It's incredible how you got it in the air, and with very good sharpness! When I was a kid I used to try to capture them to put into a resin block, but it was always so difficult... Wonderful job!

Dragonflies are very difficult for photographing, I have one week ago taken a dragonfly but he/she was quiet on a thread.
Lovely colours and nice presentation.
Good composition, splendid colours.
Very well done, TFS.

It's amazing how the insect is similar to an helicopter from this point of view.
You makes very good photographs of flying objects whatever dragon fly or historic airplanes ;o)
In this case you caught the animal in fly - and I know difficult it is - but you render nice colors as well.

There is the obvious rare delight of blue and black which could be more than eye-catching. Excellent macro work which is not easy to get that well defined with both dynamic wings and head. Tis is a very competent shot bright in tight framing The soft blurry bg has further uplifted the vividness of this delightful insect. Congrats

I must admit, seeing this made myself to salute your skills, Eleu.
Amazing how you caught this Dragonfly on air. A fascinating photojob done here, stunning blue stripes and fine clarity.

I like this photo for many reasons, among which are:
1) The beautiful cool blue markings on the body of the dragonfly.
2) Excellent macro work.
3) The simplicity of the scene.
3) The sharp and excellent freezing effect on the wings.
4) The impeccable timing.
