The monsoon season brought much needed rain to the Las Vegas valley in the past several days and with it were some spectacular lightnings. Fortunately there were no major flooding in the city.

Not easy to capture, but you've managed it !
Good to keep the illuminated skyline of the city at bottom part. Good graphical effect.
TFS and best regards

A great catch of lightning in the sky and that is not easy to do. The lighted city adds to the composition.

Awesome atmospheric shot!
I've never photographed lightning before, so for me this is pretty darn cool.
Its hard enough to imagine rain in Las Vegas, as I've yet to really experience that either!
smart looking shot with the dark blacks for contrast.

It looks like a river and its tributaries on the map, great timing and good light management, nice photo of this lightning, congratulations on your patience :)

Dynamic Nature's electricity arcing through the night, especially the size and complex pattern, and the Vegas building lights below.
And I would have guessed a longer shutter exposure than half a second.
PS: You might check Vegas real estate prices now? I have been reading about the decline in values and many foreclosures.

I remember wasting a whole roll of film (24 frame) trying to capture a lightning bolt with a point-and-shoot film camera in the Finger Lakes region. Since then, I have not tried. What do you do, use the bulb mode and wait for lightning or do you have a light sensitive trigger?
At any rate my hat off to this well-accomplished task which I have not managed to achieve yet.
