I'm back from a quick 4 day trip to Las Vegas, and I couldn't have had a better time!!!
Living in Vancouver, its an easy 2 hour flight south to Las Vegas, so its a no-brainer to visit every now and then, also because the flights can be had from $29 to $79 each way.
As for this photo here, its the Wynn Hotel on the right and the large UFO on the left - a combination I couldn't help but put together in a composition.
This is one of those shots I've been waiting to capture for a long time, so its off of my Vegas-Bucketlist! :)
I'll have many more interesting shots upcoming!!
Thanks for looking at this HDR

Hi Craig, For only 29 t0 79 even I would be tempted to go to Las Vegas :). (and then I would go somewhere out of this town). Interesting UFO. And how lucky you were with the weather! Interesting brown buildings.
Lately I showed my Australian photos in travelers cafe and I met there other Malgorzata (finally :)) and Leszek.
Hugs for Tosca

Good capture of these two starkly contrasting styles of architecture. Excellent technical presentation.

Welcome Baaack! We missed you, and I nearly died of starvation looking at your food shots on Instagram. An interesting shot that looks more at home at the Kennedy Space Centre. Fascinating graphism, great upward looking POV, and excellent light management. The HDR is very subtle here, I wouldn't have guessed this one if you hadn't said anything. Glad you had a great time, back to reality now, and time to start saving for your next trip ;)
Cheers, happy weekend

Welcome back, glad you had a great time!
Holy crap, I need to move to Vancouver to fly to Vegas...from right next door here in Phoenix, it costs even more to take the 40 minute flight...WTF?? About $200 USD for a round trip!?
Now this is exactly the kind of thing I thought we might see...awesome shot! The perspective alone is a real draw, but coupled with the light...not to mention the gold/blue color combo...sweet. :)
Hope you didn't melt out there on The Strip. Can't wait to see what else you have in store. Take it easy.

like this! The light can be overpowering in Vegas but you have managed it superbly and to great effect here. Wonderful POV and such elegant lines with perfect detailing. Wish flights to this part of the US were as cheap as yours from Vancouver, not a big fan of Vegas but it is in such a great place to see other sights close by. Top quality work as always Craig.
Have a good weekend - Brian.

A spaceship is a rare treat indeed, and especially what looks like a solid gold one! Brilliant composition on this to include the hotel and UFO at this cool angle. I don't know if its just me, but for some reason I think that hotel looks edible....
What a great sky to portray this against too, beautiful blue to contrast the gold and chocolate tones.
Urs (14082) 2013-07-12 9:05
What a bold architecture! The contrasts of gold brown vs blue is captivating. You did a find job that the HDR of this photograph cannot be seen easily. Excellent photo job.
Macro lens, I recommend to select a fixed macro lens, something like 50mm F2.0.

as I see not only I´m busy lately, but definitely I prefer your way of spending time(traveling is much better than working:)
We´ve seen a lot pictures from Las Vegas, but you were able to go away from the classic "postcard" view. The scene is great!Upward perspective works really well with the futuristic UFO structure.Just love the light and contrast it creates-metallic surface against the blue sky looks amazing!
PS.tomorrow it´s my first free Saturday since February,so will try to spend it more actively on TE and finally post a picture:)
Have a nice weekend

I think the entire Las Vegas is a cosmic city, you have captured true UFO shapes, great quqlity, excellent composition
abmdsudi (52963) 2013-07-12 12:02
Happy landing. Strange how could the aliens miss the target with the saucer almost slipped to the ground but hard to blame they too need some fun here! Just disgusting capitalist excess? but still it makes for an interesting photo and the essence of this vibrant city. Viva Las Vegas, Well done.

So you actually photographed the same UFO!!!!!
Gee, they must be there all the time!!!!!
Well, anyway, I think you did a great job with you camera too, specially because it's so difficult to get a good one with a moving element!! Just kidding!
I hope you're enjoying your trip to Vegas... I wish I could go back there some other time!

Hello Craig. Precise title. Lines, shapes, textures colors. Everything looks futuristic here. The colors blue and yellow gold complement each other very nicely. The text is informative.

I reckon from some photos about this location, that it doe's look like strange soucer, and from diff. angel it has a very nice futuristic view.
Modern architecture give photographers a small heaven to collect there.
Nice chosen the POV, good light and photojob on HDR.
Enjoy your weekend,

Attractive composition with just a little bit darkness colours and golden reflection.
Have a nice weekend!

Fabulous composition in this powerful image combining straight lines with sharp curves, giving great originality to the image, this picture is doing very well the strong contrasts.
Magnificent both brightness and sharpness.
Have a good weekend.

I've never been to Vegas, which I realize is heresy for an American, but it remains true. It certainly seems to represent almost everything I dislike about my own country, including - and possibly most seriously - a distinct lack of history, which I cannot abide... still, it does offer quite a palette for the photographer, as you show here. Amazing that you can get such cheap flights - I don't know if anywhere I can reach for such a small amount of money (or at least not one that I couldn't drive to in less time than it would take to get to the airport and onto the plane for the flight).
Nice warm light here - the buildings themselves look almost sepia-toned.

In Vegas is all one big kitsch!
Your photo is interesting.
I like POV and composition.
Good colors and light.
UFO in Vegas ;)
Have a nice afternoon my Friend.

you have a wonderful eye of photograph. Wonderfully capture this modern architecture. Perfectly well done. Indeed looks like a UFO. Fantastic job. Like it.
All the best,
mirosu (16041) 2013-07-15 5:00
It long time since my last visit to LV, fascinating place. I like the view up and the excellent contrast against clear blue sky. Excellent image. Greetings, Miro.

Wow - I really love this. We stayed in the Wynn hotel when we in Las Vegas 3 years ago and I do remember how the evening light lit it up in coppery tones. What makes you photo so special is the 'UFO' in the FG and the beautiful light. A very clever use of the juxtaposition of the two buildings against that cloudless desert sky.
Kind Regards, Ann

A nice upwards POV with interesting elements. Fine cut and nice mixture of colours. Great shot! TFS.

Excellent photo, an interesting report from Las Vegas! Good title and original futurist composition, well done. Good cropped picture.
I am fine. It was just a short spleen. ;)
best wishes from Russia!
mkamionka (35788) 2013-07-16 14:40
perfect use of this extraordinary architecture to create an interesting geometrically effect.
I am always surprised to see in your photos an unknown to me image of Las Vegas. May be it is just because this city changes so much and so often or due to your creativity or both.
