The American Coot (Fulica americana) is a bird of the family Rallidae. Though commonly mistaken to be ducks, American Coots come from a distinct family. Unlike ducks, Coots have broad lobes of skin that fold back with each step in order to facilitate walking on dry land. They live near water, typically inhabiting wetlands and open water bodies in North America. Groups of these black-feathered, white-billed birds are called covers or rafts. The oldest known Coot lived to be 22 years old. (From Wikipedia)

sweet photo! Well composed, good contrast between the color of the animals and the water. Also the contrast between the texture of the feathers and the concentric circles in the water is nice.

nice the snapshot with the mother and her child to swim so close to each other.I like the excellent light and colour management as the beauty of the scene.

Nice scene with mother and child under a good light. I like the mouvement in the water and the transparency showing the feet.

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the American Coot and of the chick. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.
