Photographer’s Note

Sculpted from the rugged desert terrain of Southern Nevada, Lake Las Vegas Resort lies nestled within the desert mountainside just 17 miles from the world renowned Las Vegas Strip. This waterfall welcomes the visitor at the beginning of the resort.

The man-made lake is 320 acres in area and is a wonderful place to escape to from the noise and hectic of "Sin City". Here you can relax and enjoy water in the middle of the desert.

The dam that creates the lake is an earthen structure 18 stories high, 4,800 feet in length and 716 feet wide at its base. It contains roughly the same amount of dirt as Hoover Dam does concrete and was completed in 1991.

Hi Linda,
Very nice view on that waterfall, well balanced photo with good contrasting colors.
Perhap's a little lack of sharpness, but i like it!

For a man made cascade is very nice and the palm tree on the left gives a feel of a refreshing oasis. I like the POV an the nice colours in here.

Hi Linda,
I've been once to Vegas, I think what amazed me most are the debauchery of light and the ability to build such a contrasting place with water and life in the middle of the desert, given the background the foreground is pleasantly refreshing and I like this nice cloud floating in the sky providing contrasting highlights against the blue.

This is a very nice picture with great colors! Maybe it might look better with slower exposure. If would have tried a 1/4 or 1/8 or 1/2 (but then with a tripod).
But very nice work!

Ein anderes schönes Bild, dass du da aus den USA mitgebracht hast. Jaja, Las Vegas ist echt eine wahnsinnige Stadt.
Super Farben, toller Kontrast, klasse Schärfe und gutes Licht. Dazu ein einwandfreier Bildaufbau und ein gut gewählter point of view. Schön !!!

Usually I like wider images and this one has all the elements very concentrated. So much to see here... Composition is very good. I would love to see just a bit of more sky and a bit more water in the bottom, but that's personal choice. I feel that the image is a bit claustrophobic for me. :)

been once to Las Vegas where I got married but missed this place. I wonder how it would be this picture taken late in the afternoon with the great light of the sunset..anyway, it looks beautiful with the deep blue sky and the fat white fluffy cloud balancing the compo very well. The waterfall and the rinnung water brings in life making the picture beautiful to look at. My compliments.
