Photographer’s Note
This was taken in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park, Montana. Some great Rocky Mountain scenery there, with huge mountains and pristine lakes. The prominent peak in the picture is Grinnell Mountain, and the lake is Swiftcurrent Lake. The mountains in the distance are known as the Garden Wall, because they form a solid wall along the continental divide. The Many Glacier area is a complex of 2 hotels and a campground in the valley around Swiftcurrent Lake, which is completely surrounded by spectacular mountains. Since this are is on the east side of the mountains the morning is the best time to photograph, otherwise the sun is behind the mountains.

Hot dang! This is the kind of shot that really makes me want to hike and explore the mountains. I love the alpenglow on Grinnell Point and Mt. Gould. A much better foreground on this one. The faint clouds are also a nice touch, as the sky would have been fairly boring otherwise. Well done Alvin.

Hello Alvin,
What a pristine lake, with the conical peak of Grinnell dominating the view. I didn't know about the Garden Wall until I read about it in your note . Excellent colors and resolution.
Warm regards,

Hi Alvin,
This makes me jealous. I was here with too much clouds and too much rain. Seeing this i know how beautiful it can be...thanks for the upload because the place looks indeed wonderful.
Very serene, very peaceful. Great light, but also great framing...

Hi Alvin,
wow an early morning pyramid :D
no, seriously, I like the warm and at the same time fresh colours, and the asymmetry due to the rock in the foreground.
Cheers Chris

Hey Alvin,
The first thing that comes to my mind is that- I cannot believe this is the Rockies. The colors remind me of my time spent in South America where the earth had a reddish tinge to it. I guess I can only assume that the reddish color is a result of the setting sun (having just read the note- the morning sun).
The horizon is exactly level (I guess you knew I'd call you on it- haha). Excellent sharpness and tonal levels, but what really makes this shot in my opinion is the addition of a well placed foreground subject .
Nice work buddy,
- Dan

Alvin,
This is a great shot with a fine reflection. The reflection provides depth and symmetry for the scene. The rocks in the foreground add a nice point of interest as well as breaking up the symmetry. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and DOF.

Hi Alvin,
stunning view of this peaceful and serene lake. The rock in the fg add a lot of depth and it's a good focal point to lead the eye through the compo. The light is simply magic and the Grinnel Mountain sunkissed by the first rays of light and reflected in the placid water makes the compo even more beautiful. A very fine work and presentation..I like it a lot.
Thanks for sharing it and regards,
Igor

Hello Alvin,
Such a wonderful light and colors...
You are very right. The morning is the right time to get out for picture hunting in these areas.
The contrast between the foreground in the shadow gradually changing to these wonderful peaks in fire is superb.
Nice catch!
Have a nice day.

Alvin,
this is simply wonderful.
I see that I will really have to return to the Canadian Rockies many other times. The morning atmosphere captured with the red glow is fantastic. At first I had the impression that this is already some autumn moment due to the red tinged trees in the background. However the date is in June? Is the red all a result of the raising sun? Imressive!

Hi Alvin,
The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view takes our eyes toward the mountains in the bacground which is giving depth to the photo. The picture is clear and sharp. The light is enhancing the colors of the scenery. Have a nice day.
