Photographer’s Note
Mountain reflected in the waters of Swiftcurrent Lake, in Glacier National Park, Montana. I took my first trip to Glacier National Park this year, and I was very impressed with the beauty of the place. There are many incredible views in the park, and this one is in what is called the Many Glacier area. A road leads in to a small valley with a series of lakes, leading to mountains to the east. There are a couple of big hotels there, and a nice campground too. All the trails leave from the accomodations and you are very quickly into some high octane alpine scenery. This photo was taken only about 5 minutes walk from one of the hotels.
This shot was taken before I changed cameras, so it is with the D200.

Hi again Alvin;
I like the fact you placed the horizon on a 3rd, good reflection off the mountain- level horizon, sharp detail etc.
But personally, I think this shot lacks the visual impact that we're used to with you Alvin. I guess it's that the forground is a bit boring. I guess it needs like a big log, or rock sitting in the water to really capture the eye...
All the best Alvin,
- Dan

Hi Alvin,
The indredible depth of this image is what catches my attention even before the stunning colors. Great vertical format and gorgeous Glacier National Park beauty. Well done and TFS. Gerald

Hi Alvin,
Beautiful...an image i had on my list. But visiting Glacier was for 90% rain and clouds. The reflection and the detail under water are wonderful exposed..pola filter to remove the surface reflection i think?
Contrasting colours from the trees againt the blue makes this one really stand out...i like it.

Hello Alvin,
Perfect one again...
Your composition is just superb and the wide angle usage with this strong foreground is really great.
Leaving a lot of room to the water and the reflection was the right choice and the eye slices gently up to the magnificent peak in the distance.
What a quiet and peaceful mood you are bringing here...
I think I would have erased the small black branches on the right side that are a bit disturbing?
Really Great work!
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

Hi Alvin
Is it possible to do a daytrip by bus from Calgary? I'll be there in October. Good sharpness, lighting, colour, contrast, & reflections. Tfs!

Hi Alvin
a nice shot, could maybe have been a little wider in order to include more foreground stones.

Hi Alvin,
Even with that "old" D200 it looks great to see how you have captured the light on these background peaks, and also the foreground despite being darker shows plenty of details. The framing tops this with maximum depth.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Alvin!
That's such a super picture!
The vertical format was the best choice to include the peaks in the bg, with the yellowish sunlight reaching them, the blue and no-cloud sky, the magnificent reflection on the mirror-like surface of this lake and, last but not least, the neat fg with the clearest water so we can see deep in it!
TFS - Congratulations!
Warmest regards,
Neyvan

Hi Alvin!
Another awsome reflection! The framing is great, and the tone of the sun on the mountain is gorgeous. A peaceful scene with lovely natural colors! Cheers,

Alvin, you dog! What are you doing going and posting a fantastic shot like this? ;) What wonderful lighting you got on Swiftcurrent Lake. By the time I got here, the sun was already fairly high in the sky, unfortunately. I love the colors and the lighting here, and the composition with two little exceptions: I don't care for the bit of branch on the right, and I'm with Dan on the foreground. I think a lower perspective, to place the rocks a bit higher in the frame, would have been better. With this framing, you've got a bit open space where you can kind of see the rocks in the water, but not well enough to keep it from feeling like a blank space.
But...that's about all I have to critique. Everything else about this shot is marvelous. Man, you have all the luck with weather. My experience with weather was more like Henk's. :(

you are always showing fantastic viewpoints, and this one isn't an exception, fine use of the vertical framing to show this interesting foreground, as always, the light is great
