Photographer’s Note
In this area where the streams are slow moving, beaver often build their den in the banks. The fella was lazing in the early morning sun nibbling on some succulent bark. Beaver tend to be skittish around people and will usually duck as you approach. I was fortunate and came up on this one quietly, and left without disturbing his breakfast.

Nice wild capture we have here, well framed in his surroundings. colours good but it seems a little over bright especially on the dead vegitation behind him and his face, use of either brihtness /contrast or burn tool on a very low level using a soft brush.A few more detail about the camera sttings and post production would be an advantage.

The dead leaves right behind the beaver distracts from the animal, so does the dead grass in the top right. I would also consider cropping a bit closer to the beaver, to focus more on him. Limiting the DOF, to cause the subject to stand out more from its surroundings, would help and can possibly be considered in the future.
