Photographer’s Note
Just a jump outside of Helena (which is the Capitol of Montana) you can find a world just for yourself. It has roads leading you to Passes as high as 6000 feet. You may drive for an hour or so not seeing a soul. I can still feel the silence out here, just the cold wind in my hair. It was early June, the days were pleasant but the nights still cold, almost freezing level. No train on these tracks but I can imagine what a train ride this would be - simply fantastic!

Been there and experienced that quiteness barbara. When I drove from Rapid City to Yellowstone I happen to drive in Montana and it is totally a new experience compared to midwest. For an interstate freeway, I saw very few vehicles on the road. I noticed people do drive quite fast there!

Hello Barbara,

Roland
PS. ich habe noch einen WS gemacht. Nichts für ungut.

Hello Barbara -
A nice image and along with your description conveys the loneliness of many parts of the American west. This is a pleasing composition with the road and RR leading the eye into the image. I love your sky but it appears to be slightly over polarized. At these altitudes a little polarization goes a long way. The sky and clouds are well exposed and I like the play of shadow and light on the far plains. Well done!
Thanks for sharing

Great picture of american plains, that's what I truly like!
Am I right, that you used gradual gray filter with this photo? Is so, could you please share with us what was the type of it and the vendor? Thanks in advance.
Jarek.

Hi Barbara,
You should send this one back to Helena and they could slap it on a post card to attract visitors from near and far. Beautiful depth accomplished with the rails running straight into the rolling hills with the "big sky" looming in the background while casting lovely shadows on the open plain.
