This is a picture taken from the porch on Many Glacier Hotel overlooking Lake Sherburne. The lake is an artificial lake fromed when the Sherburne Dam was built in 1919.
The peak on the left in the background is Mount Gould with an elevation of 9553 feet.
On the right is Grinnell Point.
It's a very relaxing place to come and visit.
Other pictures from this trip can be seen in my theme here.

Your photo is impressive and I like most things about it - the perspctive, colours and the scenery.
The only fault is the sharpness -it seems to me that you focused on the remote peaks rather than on the mountain by the lake.

The mountains behind Mount Glacier blur; it just give extra impact on the front scene. The reflection and its blurness with the wind makes the shot alive.
Although the park is manmade, the atmosphere is just like heaven :)
Thanks for sharing.

This landscape is very beautiful, and you has captured its beautiy in an extraordinary way. I like mainly the big space you has given to the lake, not only by nice reflections, but overall because it's a very large foreground that introduces us very well in the bigness of this place. The softones of the mountains and the sky are also very beautiful. Thanks,

Never been to this park, but your picture is really inviting to it.
Love the square crop in this excellent composed picture together with the way you placed the two mountains in the frame.
Picture is tack-sharp, just as a landscape picture should be.
Really a great shot...perfect work.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Beautifull scenery shot with the reflection on the water. I like the ripples in the water, you can almos feel the wind moving the water. Good job. The elevation of 9553 is in feet I imagine. Regards

Hi again. What an absolute stunner this one is. A tremendous sense of space is captured here, and the proportions of the composition are perfect, with that huge expanse of water. Colour is very naturalistic and the degree of sharpness is just right. Superb landscape.

This is a gorgeous photo. Post card perfect. I like the color tone and the shade of the mountains. Nice composition and sharpness too. Photo with this quality so often belongs to the higher end SLR cameras, but you did it nicely with a non-SLR camera. Well done!

Wov great picture!
I liked the colors and contrast very much. You were unlucky about to catch the reflection beacause of breeze. TFS

quillo (11850) 2007-03-09 16:41
Hi Amber, is one of the images more beautiful than I have seen lately in TE, I am glad of conocerte and I will have to dedicate something of time to review your gallery that seems to me interesting.
sadeik (3268) 2007-03-19 20:18
A beautiful spot and beautiful photo, I like the small amount of ripple and the reflections here although the extra sharpening has left a slight halo around the mountains. In PS I have found that this can be blurred out with the blur tool and I also just sharpen the specific areas with the sharpen tool in Photoshop, it works quite well an means you don't have to sharpen or blur everything. Hope that is of some use
karinegl (172) 2007-04-03 10:18
I begin wondering if such pictures can be done only in Canada or in the USA. I 've seen several like yours on TE, always from Canada ou US and rarely even never from France or Switzerland where we have also mountains ou lake ? Tell me is there a special light over there ?
You're one is very good...
Bluejeans (64247) 2007-04-05 15:49

Fabulous shot of Glacier. I've been to Banff in Alberta, but never Glacier. Photos like this make me want to go there as well. The angle relative to the sun is great, and the subject--what can I say? Excellent all around. Did you use a grad filter? It looks like it in the sky. Not that it's a bad thing if you did, I think it looks pretty good and helped the sky to not be washed out. Fantastic shot.
umbrellaphotos (1901) 2007-04-16 12:20
I really like your images from Glacier - I have never been there, but I have plans to visit this summer. Your composition here is great.
My only comment is that your sharpening looks a little overboard in the radius department. What sharpening does is increase the contrast between edges, or assumed edges. What's going on in your image is that the radius is set too high so there is an increased contrast in the edges. If you take a look at the mountain you will see a little halo or lightness around the edges. This is because it's trying to increase the contrast (which it did), but the radius (or cells affected) was set pretty high so that quite a difference was made.
It's either that or you did a poor selection when do a layer adjustment, but I bet it's the sharpening.
Okay, sorry about the rough critique - it really is a great image. It took me forever to learn little tidbits like this. Let me know if you have any questions.
Great shot though,
pedrocarmo (1289) 2007-04-25 8:48

I love this location, Amber, and you've done a great job capturing it. I am bothered a bit by the halo, though.
