Photographer’s Note
When I was traveling across the United States I visited Butte, Montana during their big national holiday, the 4th of July celebration. I stopped at a roadside fireworks stand and met this young soldier working behind the counter. He told me that he was a teenager and on his way to Iraq the next day to serve his country for the first time. I'd never met a soldier heading to Iraq before and something in his eyes and demeanor expressed his fear to me about his upcoming mission.
