| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| In the mountains of Pocatello, Idaho, these nocturnal creatures climb trees and glide about. A common creature, the northern flying squirrel (Glaucomys sabrynus) is not seen by many humans because of its nocturnal nature. This picture was photographed with a Nikon N70, Tamron 70-300mm lens, and a Sunpak external flash. The difficult part other than to find them in this pose is to focus manually in the dim light of a house lamp many feet away. Autofocus didn't work in this near darkness! I scratched my eyeglasses photographing these creatures. |
