Photographer’s Note
Ketchum, a small town in central Idaho (population 3000, elevation 1800 m) sits in the Wood River Valley. Next to it is Sun Valley, a ski resort established in 1936. The area is well regarded for outdoor recreational activities: golf, fishing, hiking, trail riding, and skiing among other.
This photo was taken during a day of Nordic skiing on the golf course of Sun Valley. From a heavily overcast sky, it snowed lightly all morning. In the early afternoon, the sun battled the clouds and eventually won out. I have a fondness for the visual drama of these times of transition in the weather.

Hi William,
God choice of b&w here.
It is really enhacing the effect of the chill.
Nice central light overcoming the picture too.
Even detail is excellent,
well done & tfs,
Thomas

Hi William!
Great B&W! I like how the lighting is very soft and diffuse, yet the presence of the sun is so overpowering in the sky. Great framing/composition/balance between near and far, sky and ground.
Cheers,
Jordan

Hi William,
Wow, I like the B&W treatment of this photo. I believe that the use is justified. The left side of the image has reflections of the objective, but they do not seem too.

Hi William,
I think here you gave the best of your skill and aesthetics. B&W is much more difficult than colour and this photo shows all your mastery of it. It's a grand composition, so tender and essential. Very good light management with all the shades of gray neatly present while at the same time a fine contrast is there. But above all is the atmosphere that I like most.
Well done,
Donato
