Photographer’s Note
This was taken from the trail approaching the beautiful Akaka Falls in the Big Island of Hawaii. We have to walk down a trail through a beautiful mountainside rain forest, under an "off again-on again" drizzle. The walk to Akaka Falls and Kahuna Falls is well worth the time. The beauty of the State Park is not just Akaka Falls and Kahuna Falls but he awesome rain forest and and many little "baby falls".
Akaka Falls State Park has a beautiful self-guided 0.4-mile loop meanders through lush tropical vegetation to scenic vista points overlooking Kahuna Falls and the free-falling Akaka Falls, which plunges 442 feet into a gorge.
