At Puuhonua O Honaunau (the City of Refuge) on the Big Island are the wood carved Tiki Gods protecting the temple. In Hawaiian legend the Huaka'i Po or Nightmarchers are the ghosts of ancient Hawaiian warriors. At night time they can arise from their burial sites, weapons in hand and march to past battles or sacred places. Any living person near their path may hear chanting and marching, and must go inside to avoid notice. Anyone looking upon the Huaka'i Po will die unless they have a relative in the ranks. Lying naked face down on the ground may save you. Also placing Ti leaves around your home will help protect you.

This is a scene that I have never seen of Hawaii. Excellent capture of the detail on an overcast day of these Sculptures. Great note...
