A bar on Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Hawai'i

I had several working titles for this image; Margaritaville, The Good Life but my wife selected this one.

After spending a day roaming the Waikiki area, beach and environs, a late afternoon drink was in order. It was about 1630 hours, 90 minutes before sunset, and we are kicked back enjoying the setting sun and life about the pool side bar. This image demonstrates that being in Hawai'i, after suffering 40+ inches of snow, really is "The Good Life."

For those of you interested, this is the pool deck of the Sheraton Hotel. The Royal Hawaiian is next hotel to the left and Diamond Head is about 1.5-miles across the bay to the left.

Hi John,

Nice shot. These kind of pictures can bring a certain feeling back right? It could be a postcard if you took away the napkin and panned a little up so the horizon would be a little lower in the frame; the table isn't that interesting. I love it already though! Gilbert

Hi John,
quite original composition with that drink and the feet. The toenails match with the color of the drink and I can imagine quite well how happy they are to be there out in the fresh air and sun and not in thick boots raoming through the snow.
Original shot and excellent title!
Greetings, Peter

Hi John,
Very nice mood, it is relaxing to look at it and imagine oneself on that bar. Excelent pov, sharpness and colors.
Regards, José.

A funny detail full of colours. The red of the drink finds a good respondance in the red of the nails leaning.
Good job. Thanks for sharing

Hi John,
Superb holiday feeling! Going nowhere resting in the sun with a cold drink. Cleverly created scene with a few close elements.

Hi John,
Its been a while and you have been busy lately.....you've added a lovely selection. This was the one that caught my eye though...such a relaxing image...the feet up and the refreshing cocktail....just great. That view on to the water and lovely refreshing light are the finishing touches....well done and original.Take care.
Regards, david

A classic type of shot, beautifully done, John. Nice little accents, like the toenails and the bright-colored drink. I like all the diagonals--the table edge, the straw, the feet. Nice shallow DOF to make the ocean just a mood rather than something detailed. Regards, Ken.

Hi John
A very original composition, from a too appropriate point of view, to appreciate in detail something so simple.
The colorful thing of the scene contrasts enormously, with an appropriate handling of the light and excellent photo. Congratulations.
John

John,
This is the quintessential great travel photo. The simplicity of the composition is perfect. Everyone on the planet would know that this was taken in a tropical area. The painted toe nails add even more to the photo. Good job!

Great fun shot John. Love it. It really isn't too sharp and the color isn't that good but it is an excellent original, fun type, shot that works very well. Great composition and note to explain your intentions here. I think "Happy Feet" works great as the title for this one.

Nice work.
John
