Happy New Year !!!
This is the cockpit of B747 flying to Honolulu from Tokyo at dawn.
Although we cannot photograph in the cockpit nowadays for safe flying, I wish 2009 is the beginning of a peaceful years.
I must express greatly my gratitude to the pilot who permitted taking photos.
Flash is faintly fired with an orange (LBA) filter placed in the light pass to balance to the light of dawn. This image was scanned from RVP film with the scanner GT-X900.

I thought that a 747 cockpit was something bigger than this. It is a very nice photo from a good POV. The curiosity in here is the pilots are not wearing the seatbelts!!!
All the best for 2009.

An interesting view from the past. It's true that no "ordinary" person could take a picture like this nowadays, unless with some very local company where they never heard of security regulations. An unusual and beautiful way of capruting the sunrise.

This is extraordinarily that we can see a cockpit of a B747.
Very well scanned image, nice of quality, the red colours of the sky care for a excellent portrait of the both pilots
Very well done, TFS.

As you wrote this kind of shot is no more possible today so it is even more interesting to see it today.
Very good work of balance here and the note explains well how you succeeded. The exposure is also perfect to balance both the dawn outside and the lightning of the cockpit in foreground. It is already difficult in digital, but even more fomerly in slide.
Happy new year!

Outstanding capture from the cockpit. You had much luck that you cease to be there and be able to take pictures. In addition to drawing a pretty picture at the bottom.

I hope your new year carries your Canon cameras everywhere you go! And best wishes to you from Malaysia.
No, they wont let us see the cockpit no more, not even for shooting a photo. You were heading east, so the sunrise color tone was just great in this view through the cockpit. Good capture of a 1996 safe flight :) otherwise no photo to share! I am quite certain this version of B747 is not outdated and the panels will be very much more complicated with LEDs than dials but this is a great shot.
Greetings from Borneo.

Always amazing to look inside a cockpit, you could do it once in a while in the old days, but that time is now definitely over. Nice shot, great light management, sharp and very detailed, TFS! Happy New Year, my friend.
I'll be seeing you,
ktanska (23144) 2009-01-20 23:48
What a great view from past, we no longer have a chance to see. You got the flash and outside light perfectly balanced. Lots of details visible and colour combination of orange and purple sky is perfect.

A late thank you for your New Year wishes! Well, after all, they are meant for the whole year!
The picture is particularly unusual and interesting! It's good to be able to dig out photos in your archives, especially when such a photo couldn't be taken nowadays!
I like everything in it: The two pilots hard at work, the details of the instrument panel, and the beautiful sunrise (or is it sunset?).
Thanks for sharing and best regards.

This is actually a very good photograph in my opinion.
I like your point of view. It is unusual view on TE.
Maybe the white frame is unnecessary but it's only my ...
Well done. Thanks for interesting Photographer's Note.
