Lumahai Beach is located on the north shore of Kauai. It was on this beach, during the movie "South Pacific", that Mitzi Gaynor sang "Wash that man right out of her hair".
Lumahai Beach looks beautiful, but can be very dangerous for swimming. There can be a significant amount of undertow here, even on a seemingly calm day. Lumahai has been the site of many drownings over the years, including the drowning of a husband and wife in April 2004, tragically orphaning their 11-year-old son.
This beach is not visible from the road, so look for the marker indicating its location and you must hike down a trail to get there. This photo was taken from the head of the trail and I was unable to maneuver around the bushes blocking the view without losing the perspective. A tighter crop would eliminate them, but remove some detail of the rocks and bay.
If you are on Kauai, take the highway along the north shore and visit Lumahai Beach, Tunnels Beach (great snorkeling), ending at Ke'e Beach. The views are incredible.

Nice deep colors. I like the three regions you captured: the ocean, the beach separated by the rocks, and the trees in the foreground. Nice complete picture of the area.
Hi Cheryl !
Beautiful blue and greens. It looks like some parasidiac place where one can forget the world around.
Very weel captured with yr rebel. The increase in saturation was a smart option in my opinion.
Cheers,
Celso
Fantastic colours, Cheryl. It all looks like an absolutely magnificent, isolated and very romantic place...
I agree about the bushes blocking the view though.
But no matter what you made a really great capture, well done.
When I see this, I like to go on holiday, wow, what an inviting landscape, nice and full colours, great !
