This is past Hana, Maui and it is late afternoon. This was a revered sie to the native Hawaiians, it is a place that even today feels reverent.

Information from : http://www.hawaiiweb.com/maui/sites_to_see/OheoGulch.htm :

A series of lovely waterfalls and tranquil pools flow through the O'heo Gulch and into the ocean nearby. The Pipiwai Streams feeds these falls and numerous pools starting 2 miles inland. The easiest to reach and the nicest pools are located near the shoreline. The land where the Seven Sacred Pools are situated was donated to the Haleakala National Park system so that the pools would forever be open to the public. This is a natural playground for locals and tourists alike. There is hiking, historical sites, "cliff" jumping, pool swimming, and interesting people watching. The area is always crowded on weekends and, even though there is a large gravel parking lot, it is often full. Come early to get a spot or stay in Hana to assure an early arrival. The Pipiwai Trail, above the Seven Sacred Pools, is one of the best hikes on Maui. It is 4 miles roundtrip, gaining 650-feet in elevation. It takes 2 1/2 - 5 hours to hike, depending on how much nature loving you do. There are several great waterfalls along the route with the final destination being Waimoku Falls, falling 400-feet down a sheer lava rock wall

Very nice double falls, Greg. I like the pov that offers a rich foreground and the bridge. Well done.

hi greg,

Great POV. Just like a piece of art painting - simply beautiful.
i find it a little glaring. I am not sure if you did use any PL filter?
Very nice photo.

Hi Greg

Great POV and nicely composed.I really like the ray of sunshine hitting the plant on the right. Did you try stopping down to F22 or so to slow the water down? I intend to go to Maui some day thanks for the info.

well done.
Phil

Greg,
This is a great shot! Your composition is great showing the two falls with the bridge above it. The lighting is outstanding giving the photo a mystical look. The colors are great with nice sharpness and detail.

Hi Greg,
Beautiful capture of these mist shrowded beauties. The two falls are wonderfully framed by the tropical palms. The lovely bridge is well placed in this excellent image that has true colors and fine details.
Regards, Tom

WOW! This is really pretty! So lush and green. Just a very beautiful picture. The bridge and waterfalls are very nice.

Hi Greg. Great photo. Very lush and tropical. The backlight gives this shot a lovely soft atmosphere. Nice composition also with good balance and depth. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

HI Greg,
Suprisingly there are not so many posts from this favorite holiday destination for americans, so it's good to see this one, the waterfall throwing its whites contrasts well against the luxuriant tropical greens, nice comprehensive framing.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Greg,

This is really very lovely, perspective and depth are very nice, two waterfalls and the bridge above in the misty atmosphere, excellent composition and very attractive picture. Very well done.

Have a nice sunday,
John.

Hi Greg,
I like very much the point of view, as well as the whole composition. The twin waterfalls under the wonderful bridge, makes the scene so impressive! Thanks for sharing that image and the note, too.
Regards,
Athanasios.

Hi Greg,
Intensively tropical scene. Practically everything is some shade of green. Eye follow naturally the flow of water. Haze of backlight doesn't work so well as contrast on the fg is higher than on the main subject.

Hi Greg,
Thank you for allowing me to visit this very special place one again; your photo really captures the senser of being there; everything is perfect. HLJ, Pat

Greg, After your dire warning about Korea, I thought, "gee, it doesn't look so bad," until I realized this was Hawaii... The lighting is otherworldly, as if there is a god visiting here; you caught the angle of the sun at a perfect time.

Is this all natural, or has it been cultivated some by the parks system? It looks like a garden rather than something you'd stumble upon in the wild. Beautiful, indeed.

Regards,
Lisa

Looks like a place I'd like to visit. Thanks for bringing it to me virtually.
I wonder if a graduated neutral density filter on the top/top right would help keep the focus on the pools by darkening the sky a bit.

Hola Greg,
Precioso paisaje de cascadas envuelto por esos rayos de sol que le dan una atmósfera muy especial. Excelentes y refrescantes colores y POV.
Cordialmente
Charo

Hi Greg. I read your replies to the critiques re the problems about the light - even you had been more familiar with your camera, etc, I'm not sure that there was too much that you could have done to improve this even with filters, because it looks like you were there at the wrong time of the day. If the sun is behind you in the morning, I can imagine what a beautiful image you could produce from this scene early in the morning, but if the morning sun is off to the right, then this would be difficult to get right except maybe towards the middle of the day on a 'soft light' day. I suppose that's why NatGeo photographers sometimes have to wait days to get the right shot. However, your shot still captures the revered atmosphere of this beautiful spot and the composition is perfect. Cheers . . . David

Hi Greg,
Most of visitors get to this place late afternoon when light conditions are not too favorable for a good shot. You did the best you could. I was there last year in November, but hit the road block few kilometers past Hana. There was some damage to the road caused by earthquake in the middle of October. Like the composition.
Thanks for sharing.
