One more surf shot from the famed North Shore. With this shot, I'm trying a new crop -- a panoramic style which shows more of the wave.

Despite its popularity in surfing circles and popular media, North Shore has managed to remain relatively "country." Except a large resort in Turtle Bay, I did not spot any big hotel chains or touristy commercial developments. Nevertheless, the locals are concerned about the increase in tourism traffic. I saw a car bumper sticker that read: "Keep North Shore Country."

Wow!! you hit this one! Tibo

Right Spot at the right time. Excellence. Especially like the surfer and the wave stand out from the darker background sea. Curious to know is you darken the mid tone for the background, would the subject be standing out more?

Hello Wei,
The panaramic format has really worked well here, and adds so much more artistic feel to this surfing shot. It seems to emphasise that the surfer is the smaller part to the sport....the wave always dominates....hey I'm getting carried away, but you probabaly know what I mean. You've captured the surfer at the top of the wave in excellent clarity, and the back spray of water is nicely lit by the sun. Very well done.
Cheers Grant

Hey!

That is quite good. It is not my genre but I find everything in this image pleases me from the color of the surf to the energy captured by the frozen spray. It seems to my eye that the panoramic crop works well giving the surfer plenty of room in the direction of movement thus adding to my sensation of motion.

Well done!

Bob G.

Hi Wei. This is a great action shot. Very well captured with nice detail and perspective.
