[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hapuna beach is a concrete resort in the waikoloa desert NW of Big I. It has one of the only white sand beaches of the island and if you can forget about the massive resort at the end of the beach, it's quite nice! (the sand is not actually sand, but "digested coral" if you understand what is meant by that...)There was a couple a sea turtles hanging around, some rocks, fish and coral for snorkling. I was sent there for a conference which was held in the hotel. It was quite hard to concentrate when you knew what was outside... Still, thanks to my boss for sending me there ;-)

Nice shot Nicolas! I love the colour of the sea here, it looks very tropical indeed - and contrasts nicely with the pale golden beach. The sky's also fascinating, a great contrast between the white clouds and the deep blue clear sky above. Whilst the foreground adds depth to the image, it's a bit bleak and featureless for what appears to be such a tropical scene I feel. Given the choice I think I'd have tried to get lower and closer to the beach if possible, and then zoomed in a bit more to make the most of those clouds. I also think I might have tried some far tighter compositions, maybe just of the land/beach/sea where they meet - removing the sky totally. It would certainly make an interesting abstract ;)

Overall, a nice capture though - worth it for the beautiful sea alone, but when you add the sky and other elements too :D
