Photographer’s Note

My very first shot of 'Spruce Tree House' which are Pueblo Indian ruins underneath the cave arch overhang, in Mesa Verde National Park. They date from 1200 to 1300 ad, when a combination of a 300 year long mega drought & the arrival of the Navaho Indians effectively ended this unique civilization. The inhabitants would reach the plateau above using ropes & ladders to farm corn, & descend into the valley for permanent springwater. If you look carefully, you'll see the last of the tourists permitted to visit for the day.
