Poudre River Trail
The river was exceptionally still during our afternoon walk.
This image was rotated 180º to put the trees upright .. so I shot aiming down into the water from the top of the frame. The dark area in the upper left is a bit of shallow muddier water near the bank.
Soon .. I hope .. the snow will melt in the mountains above us and the rivers will be full and fast.

Bonjour John, le titre ne laisse planer aucun doute. A la vue du thumb, je n'aurais pourtant jamais deviné qu'il aurait s'agit de reflets.
Le cadarge qu'il fallait pour semer le doute.
Have a great week.

Oh, my gosh, John,
I thought that WAS the sky. What wonderful light and contrast for those still waters to reflect the trees so beautifully. What a great idea and fantastically executed. That's amazing. Thanks and hope you had a great Easter,

Hi John. Our rivers are low and slow at the moment also, we have had the driest summer for many many years. I’m still watering my little forest to stop my trees dying. Great photo. Well seen and captured. Thanks for sharing.

The light & surface movement gives an interesting effect on the reflections John. Nice colors & hairy look on the branches. Regards. Latiff.

THe reflections look very nice on the water. The blue atmosphere is very attractive and artistic. I didn't realize I was looking at reflections until I read the note. Good experiment and use of the clam waters. Thanks John.

John, tu as bien fait de ne prendre que le reflet et de le retourner à 180°. Cela donne une photo très proche de la peinture et une impression magique.
danos (88347) 2008-03-25 3:31

What a fabulous shot, but the note is crucial to understanding the technique and subject. In any event, as a painter, I would have called this color "cerulean blue." Superb photograph, accompanied by an informative note.

I didn't notice it was a reflection until I opened it. It's a wonderful image, it makes my imagination think about Alice and alike stories, a kind of window to some Wonderland.

Very creative image that shows lots of imagination. The slight riffle to the waters surface brings very interesting textures to these lovel blue colors. Excellent details and sharpness to this fine image.

Bonjour, cher John,
Le reflet est pour les couleurs ce que l'écho est pour les sons.
Très jolie image.

you tried to fool me with an old trick and I have to say that you did it for a while. The calm surface of the water and the beautiful colour of the sky make the scene a lovely one. I am sure that this season carries you off your feet. The rivers are great subject for the art of photography!
I wish you successful shots.

There is an enchanting atmosphere in this beautiful photo! Excellent reflection, fantastic idea to rotate the frame and creat the sensation that we are looking to these beautiful trees and sky as if we were below the water surface! Excellent composition and beautiful blue tones! Congratulations!

Wow - this is a lovely shot when it's realised that we're looking at a reflection in a lake...
Very atmospheric, well done.
Buin (42350) 2008-04-01 12:23
The others have said all - but this one deserves another two points. These colours and this atmosphere are nearly breathtaking - especially in combination with your title. A not everyday photo indeed!
Greetings from springlike Germany!

that is a good impression of a reflection with a wonderful sky behind. Framed with both trees and the superb cloud close to a painting.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Lovely colours and contrast - great image. Great shot and details. Well done.
parbo (11092) 2008-04-11 14:51
The blue is splendid with shaky reflection of branches. Reflected parts of sky or blue gives more taste then normal view many times. Your shoot is a good sample. Congratulations. Have a nice weekend.
adores (38709) 2008-04-18 17:44
Wonderful reflection with great colours. The white cloud really makes the difference here, it's perfect, seems like a painting!
banyanman (7789) 2008-04-21 6:04
Very effective, John. I saw someone else post a similar shot to TE a few years ago, was impressed with the result, and have been trying to find a suitable subject to try the same technique myself - but no luck yet. Yours is very well executed. Cheers . . . David

As always the reflected colours are enhanced like they are polarized...
A pleasant composition and an artistic expression!
Angshu (56190) 2008-05-25 21:12
Long time! hope you're doing well & so is your son. Beautiful reflection of the two trees and the sky with clouds, which definitely gives the appearance of the water colour or as you say Liquid sky. Very good work!
