The running river Photo

Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken from the wood bridge in downtown Vail, a famous ski station. It is a really nice place with relaxing views. A good place to spend the first day of the year. Despite being in January, the coldest month in US, the river was still running, unfrozen. The 2005-2006 season has been atypical, with only mild temperatures in most US.
In the workshop you can also see how is the view from the other side.

Hello Ricardo,
Nice capture of this Vail shot. The dry brown shrubs at left is looking good. The snowfull trees with the background mountain covered with chilled airy mist is looking great.

Hi Ricardo, Good shot of the snow in the snowy day. Nice capture of the forested covered with the snow. It is interesting, indeed, that the small river was still running in the frozen cold days. Nice composition. Thanks for the WS which provided a comparison to the different views from the two sides of the small river.

Hi Ricardo,
A superb winter landscape shot. I like the low light tones and hues here and the monochromatic ambience. The slice of snow and stream in the foreground nicely enhances. There is good DOF, with the closer trees laden with snow acting as a good foreground for the balance of the scene. Superb imagery, Ricardo.

I thought it was B&W at first. Well composed with the fir trees surrounding the river and pointing up to the view above.

Hi Ricardo,
I have been enjoying winter scenes as we do not have it here in Brunei. The almost BW scene makes it look even colder and I guess the way you feel too. This is a good angle as the trees are in their best positions and the mountains at the back allows our eyes to wander far beyond. Well done!! Have a pleasant weekend.

Hi Ricardo - very peaceful and relaxing scenery, the subdued light has kept the snow exposure under control, though I feel something is missing, maybe shoot lower to have more of the snow covered rocks in the river.

Thats a very beautiful place with some kind of intimate place for the Photographer, so this is realy a good POV and a well shown area where you frame well at the foreground to offer the river "as it is".

Too mild for my taste.
I like the mood and the presentation, with the river going down and curving,leaving us with this view of the mountain.

Oi Ricardo,

Bela paisagem de inverno, o arbusto meio avermelhado no canto esquerdo e as aguas turvas do rio quebram o branco dominante da paigem oferecendo um contraste agradavel aos olhos. Boa composicao e perspective. Otima profundidade e manejo da exposicao, nao e facil fotografar nestes condicoes climaticas. E verdade que este ano o inverno foi bem mais ameno por aqui, para mim foi otimo pois pude aproveitar mais, mas e uma situacao preocupante pois afeta comunidades inteiras das regios do Norte do Canada e Alaska.
