This bold teenage boy was climbing around this beautiful but treacherous waterfalls (Fish Creek Falls near Steamboat Springs, Colorado). He did just fine. He was bouncing around the rocks like a mountain goat, making a middle-aged man like me cringe watching him (he reminded me of myself about forty years ago). Photo taken with a telephoto lens.

Nice shot Stan,
A lot of the drama comes, I think, from us not being able to see the whole situation here - the true scale, which may or may not be gigantic, forms in our imagination and makes it all the more scary.

This one has a great POV and a very dramatic scene after all.
Unfortunately the sharpness is not good, as a result of low light conditions or extreme telezooming.

Really nice grand shot... points for freezing the boy and allowing the water to show a little movement.

It's a beautiful photo with a little story in it...
I like to see all that space behind him - the photo has a very interesting sense of depth.

The scaling technique enhances the scene with the small man, the grotesk waterfall, sharpnening is normal by tele is mostly slightly improved in postprocessing like lightmanagment to enhance the dramatic feel, a try in a WS.

A very original view: the waterfall is very good in itself, with excellent water foam in the background and a nice wet effect on the rock on the left (wet and, I believe, slipery), but having caught this young daredevil playing in the middle is a very good one. I hope he safely managed to get back to a more secure place...and I will not really congratulate him for his excentricity.
All the best,

This shot really captures what your note says, it does look fool hearty and it is great it all came out OK, and 40 years ago we certainly did do these type of stunts. The picture is crisp and well composed, and the water is well captured, misty in the background and stopped in mid flight in the fg. Nice capture,

Hello Stan -
What an idiot! He must be one of our many summer visitors. It is amazing how some people do not think - a disaster waiting to happen. I like the fall in the background - with the stop action exposure you can really imagine the power of this waterfall and see the peril this guy has put himself into. Well captured!
Thank you for sharing.

I've been wanting to get back to this one; the boy's precarious balance against the roaring falls and lethal rocks shows a clear sense of menace. I find the sharpness quite good given the wide DOF range that your photo covers; I also think you made the right choice to keep it all in focus. A sharp boy and blurred BG simply would not have the same impact as the unforgiving detail of the rocks and volume of water.
