Photographer’s Note

A sceane from the Annual Hot Air Balloon Rodeo in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. One weekend every year, they have Rainbow Weekend which includes the lift off of over 40 hot air balloons and an art festival. Such a beautiful sight to behold watching all the balloons lift off and fill the sky with beautiful colors. The town of Steamboat Springs, in northwest Colorado, is a popular ski area, but is also known for its hot springs.

Image was scanned. I fixed some of the grain arising from the scanning with Neat Image, and sharpened.

Reposted image: starting over, I rescanned through NeatImage to remove the grain from the sky, adjusted saturation of the baloons, cloned out one balloon on the edge, and sharpened using USM.

I like this type of photographies, the composition centered on the sky and globes creates a beautiful scene, a vision multicolor and of great visual impact, good work!

Hi Amber,

Well done this RP. This version is a lot better. There are less artifacts, the sharpness is also better.
Those colourful balloons are nice. Good contrasts with the sky. This version is way more proper. Good job on the noise etc.

I like how all these colourful balloons stand out against the cloudy sky. The quality of your post is better than the original. All is so much sharper.
It's well framed as all the balloons are entirely in the picture.

This is a really nice composition. All of the balloons floating upwards seem like a dream. Since there are no people or birds visible we can imagine something magical. The different colors are very pretty against the cloudy sky.

Amber,

Although some people weren't really fans of the sky behind the balloons, I think it's great- just enough detail and color to be interesting, yet not enough to be a distraction. I've never seen a hot air balloon show, but I get a wonderful idea of what it must be like to watch all the balloons rising into the air from your image. It almost feels like some sort of other world. I also like the angle that you took this from- many shots of hot air balloons are either too close or too far away. You caught them at just the right angle so that the balloons are not distorted, and they seem to be rising off into the air.

This is an interesting photo with all the balloons rising. I noticed one person comment, that it was a shame about the sky, yet I think this adds alot to the photo, with the gray sky, accentuating the colours of the balloons. You did a good job making sure no balloons were cut off on the edges, there's a great perspective on this shot with the balloons getting smaller and smaller.
