Photographer's Note
This shot was taken just after the rainbow I posted recently (here), in an alternate direction, further ahead down the road on which we were traveling from Taos, New Mexico to Denver, Colorado. The road passed west of the Rocky Mountains, along wide open ranch land with very little else. Here, along the road, was a modern irrigator, stretching along the same line of perspective as the road and the telephone poles, all headed toward the far off and obscured mountains - a rather perfect Western scene.

Hello Andrew,
This is a typical picture of this area. The rocky mountain, the irrigation equipment, when we fly over this area we can see the circle of irrigated crops in a otherwise dry and desert area. I like your composition. The nice grey sky is beautiful and is probably the star of this picture.
Great work

Hello Andrew,
The light adds a great deal of atmosphere to this typical scene beside the Rocky Mountains. I like the grey mistyness in the BG and the brooding sky. Your viewpoint had given great perspective.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello Andrew
I wasn't around for two days, but after two 16h shifts at work ...
This is, as you say, really a perfect western scene. This is how I imagine the midwest to be. The disapearing road and the diagonal lines of the road, telephone masts and the irrigator give the picture a good sense of depth.
have a great weekend

Hi Andrew
living in Canada, this is a scene we see very often.
I can easily drive down any local long road here and capture an identicle type of landscape.
thats the beauty of Canada.
I'm really enjoying the over abundance of cloud coverage, makes a strong visual impact.
lots of depth.
Its cool to see the 2 car head lights way down the road.
nice shot
cheers

Hello Andrew
"Who can say where the road goes...Only time" (Enya).
Well, in this case it leads attention right to the mountain crowned of rain makers that, with the help of sprinkler, didn't succeed to create a verdant scenery yet!
Of course we have the same drought around here in Quebec province.
Cheers.

Hi Andrew
Indeed a Western scene with the phone poles trademark and the irrigator machines nicely recede into the distance adding the perspective and depth The extreme contrasting color of the threatening grey sky shading the brightly lit yellow field is an exceptional moment I always dream off. This effect turns ordinary landscape into something extra boosting the image to a greater height. This is a delightful shot as it encompasses all those elements to make a wonderful balance and stupendous image. Congrats, TFS

Hi Andrew
Congratulations on this one, whilst not as spectacular as your rainbow photo, certainly technically superior and probably my favourite of the two. The colours are just amazing and the sky is so dramatic, it looks like it's going to explode. The contrasts are exquisite and I like the perspective you have created with the poles, the road and the irrigator. Excellent work.
Have a lovely Sunday

Hi Andrew - After a very long road trip through South Africa, this shot really speaks to me. I became more aware of the effort that goes into crop production and the importance of being water-wise. You have produced an atmospheric shot here which highlights both the importance of communication when distances are great and the place that the irrigation farms have in areas of limited rainfall. There is wonderful fine detain in this shot and I love the soft colours. Super work. Warm regards rosemary

Hi Andrew,
Fascinating shot, to see the lines you have here, for such a scene are amazing, both of them leading us off into the mountains. What a sky too, it appears there is never a rainbow without a very angry sky nearby!
All the best
Noel

Hello Andrew,
This composition really captures that western atmosphere. The San Luis valley is one of my favorite places in Colorado and you've managed to grasp its peculiar attraction and stark beauty.
Have a nice weekend,
Emmanuel

Ciao Andrew
mi piace molto questa tua fotografia per la bella composizione formata dalla strada e dagli irrigatori che convergono verso le montagne. Il cielo tempestoso aggiunge un bel contrasto con il colore dorato dei campi.
Complimenti
Ciao e buon fine settimana

Hello Andrew ,
What a gorgeous composition ! You've so cleverly used the modern irrigator , in combination with the opposite diagonal of the road , and the summit in the BG . The contrast is amazing between the golden grass and the theatening grey sky .
Very well done .
