I took this shot during the early afternoon at the Garden of the Gods. The area is quite rocky arid. There was only a handful of trees in the park, but ones that were there were quite hardy. Though this one seems to have died years ago, the dry condition have preserved it more or less intact.

Sorry I have been absent for a while, trekking the wilds of B.C. again. I noticed this photo the other day and wanted to come back to comment. I really like how the lighting brings out the harsh textures of the rocks and the dead tree. (Funny how the trees in rocky places just adapt to whatever impossible medium they can squeeze their roots into.) The background gives just enough view to create the sense of being "up there." A nice capture overall of the visual moment.
