Photographer's Note

The Picture was taken on top of High Dune in the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Despite it not being the tallest dune (its the second tallest) It is the one which is at the heighest altitude at almost 5000 ft.

It was a 3 hour hike to get there through numerous sand dunes and I then continued another 3 hours to the top of Star Dune (the tallest of the Sand Dunes)

Later that day we drove across the mountain range and it was quite unreal to be in a desert and a couple of hours later be surrounded by snow. The mountains you see ahead have over 7000 ft.

This was by far my favourite place thus far in the United States.
