Photographer’s Note
Denver City Center, Denver, Colorado
This image was captured last night just after sunset and right before the moonrise. The moon rose between the two buildings just above the Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel is part of Elitch Gardens, an amusement park, that is situated on the right bank of the South Platte River. The tower in the background is the "Daniel & Fisher Tower" which dates back to the turn of the 19th century. The remaining buildings are all late 20th century buildings.

Hola John. Me encanta el efecto lento de la noria en contraste con una imagen tan estática como la de los edificios. Además los colores y la luz son geniales. También me llama mucho la atención la nitidez de la foto en general. Un buen trabajo, felicidades.

Looks like a really lovely postcard from Denver, John. Lovely not overly saturated colours, good sharpness and so on. The only thing that I have some mixed feelings about is the very bottom part of the pic. All those bushes and small trees there don't really seem to be necessary in this pic, but I guess that's just my preference. Anyways, nice work!

Great shot John;
WHat really drew me to this shot was the spinning Ferris Wheel which you makes for a great effect with the longer exposure.
Placed against the backdrop of the city makes for a great shot John...
Well done,

Serwus John !
Superb balanced part of Denver skyline. Fine tight framing. City is alive, no doubt. Nice colours, excellent clarity.

Hi John, this is a nice composition which took a little skill to conjure up,you exposure is spot on,i have seen many images on TE which were nowhere near this quality and they have received more critiques,I think it proves that the best images are not always the ones with the most points.
Well done and TFS.
Dave.

Excellent shot again John. What makes it special and lifts it from any othr cityscape (at night or any time) is of course the Ferris Wheel captured with the long shutter speed. Well done.

Hi John,
Another a beautiful picture, the real eyes catcher is the colourful wheel, in the middle. The enlightenment of buildings on the background is excellent, everything sharp and clear John.
I'm sorry for my bad English.
Best regards,
John.

Bonsoir John,

John,
A very nice photo. I like the casual way that the carnival is incorporated into the skyline, as though it just belongs there... like every city has one spinning in front of its office towers. (On a technical point, very very crisp focus.)
It seems to be the season for carnivals and fairs, by the way. I just finished posting a series from Toronto, JP Candelier (jcadeli) is in the midst of a good series from Vermont, and Plamen Galabov (plamen) has posted one from Dubai! Each one, including yours, adds a little to the overall evocation of the fair or carnival.

1s shutter speed and you managed to isolate this great effect, the Ferris Wheel was spining very fast! I cannot imagine people in the wheel ;o)
I just wonder what caused the horizontal lines, are they elctrical lines ?
Thanks
Al.

Hi John,
A well composed shot of the skyline. Just the right exposure it would seem. The portrait format works well here and I like the layered look, with the eye wandering upward in the frame. The clarity and colours are outstanding. Great capture, John.

Hi John
I must admit that it was this photo of the ferris wheel that drove (inspired) me to post a photo of the ferris wheel today,
I like the way you included the buildings in the background along with the ferris wheel ... it conveys the whole scene very well
congrats and tfs .... sarju
PS: Usually I like to tell the things that I did not liked about a photo when I am critiquing .... but there is nothing much I can say about your photography (I like your photos a lot) ... and I can only show my appreciation .... Cheers

Hi John,
I have seen this photo of yours and I thought that I critiqued it. It is an excellent photo with just the right lighting, the magic twilight light. I like the Elitch Gardens ferris wheel in the scene. Digital images are much easier to resize for the internet than scanned photos are. I am finding that out. I think that my recent skyline photo was about the best processing that I could manage. The larger photo looks considerably better. You did an excellent job from this vantage point!
