Photographer’s Note
Gift of Stone
Garden of the Gods Park
Colorado Springs, Colorado
A plaque (see Workshop 1) bolted into one of the red rock formations of this amazing place reads:
The Garden of the Gods Given to the city of Colorado Springs in 1909
by the children of Charles Elliot Perkins
in fulfillment of his wish that it be kept forever free to the public.
A truly wonderful gift. Workshop 1 is the plaque .. Workshop 2 is for some scale .. it is a shot from December of 2004 of some children climbing in the near formation (the middle one may be mine).

It is an impressive contribution of Mother Nature to the beauty of this world. Your picture is the record for future generations just in case something happens to the real thing. Excellent, POV and colours. Well done.

Hi John,
horns or fingers? Great rock formation in good contrast and light. I like the view and the 3 colours which dominate the capture. The workshops are a nice addition, especially those with your daughter has great textures on the rocks - beside your nice daughter.

Hello John,
I like this specially colour of the rocks, here we see rocks always with stone colour, grey and dark, but never these colours.
The figures are almost a artwork John.
Also your WS are superb, certainly this picture with the children.
The little girl in middle is this your daughter?
Very nice done.
Best regards,
John.

John bonsoir.
Quand la nature se fait artiste pour sculpter des monuments, elle dépasse parfois ce que l'homme peut faire. Ici la photo rend parfaitement la beauté de ce site. Les formes et les couleurs sont superbes.

Hi John. This is a beautifully crisp and colourful image. Unusually the exposure and contrast are perfect on both my laptop and CRT screens. The 2nd workshop with the children is also very nicely composed and certainly gives a better idea of the size of this rock.

Hi John, beautiful red rock against a beautiful blue sky. I had an opportunity to get to Arizona last year and see some of this great rock and sky. Somehow I'll have to do that again. I like the lighting and of course the colour in this. You've made good use of the shadows. This truly is a great gift from Charles Elliot Perkins. Well presented.
Thanks, John

Hi John,
contrasting warm structures rising against a deep blue sky are always visually highly effective, and so is yours here, superb colors, is it a jpeg or a processed raw file ?
Have a nice day,

This is technically so good, John - perfect saturation, contrast and sharpness. A summer's day in the Garden of the Gods provides so many outstanding photo ops, and you've taken full advantage of them here. I remember visiting this place more than 20 years ago, but regretably all my negs from that era have deteriorated beyond recovery. Cheers . . . David
