Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken at Wilkerson Pass in Colorado, looking out over a high plain called South Park, 50 miles west of Colorado Springs. This massive grassy plain is home to thousands of Pronghorns (Antelope), wild Burros and many domesticated Buffalo.
Hundreds of thousands of Buffalo once lived here before their massive slaughter by hunters who fed the thousands living in nearby gold mining settlements.
In times gone by American Indians lived and hunted here during the summer but migrated East in the winter as the cold air from surrounding mountains settles in this high plains valley and creates temperatures below 0 degrees Farenheit.
This is a beautiful view even in the day but I waited around a few hours to capture its majestic serenity after sunset. It was July 4th and I felt honored to enjoy the fireworks of nature. Thanks for looking and listening. Your constructive comments and suggestions are welcome.
