Photographer’s Note
We're back in Colorado Springs with a picture of the Garden of the Gods. It's been a while since I've posted from here but fellow TrekEarth member Quantabeh wanted me to post a picture showing more gardens and less rock. This was the best one I could find to fit the bill. I like this shot because you can see the curvy park road making an appearance. Lastly I wanted to see how it looked as a b/w so I posted a workshop of that as well. This was taken around 3pm. If you haven’t seen my other Garden of the Gods shots then I’ll just say this is a free park in Colorado Springs right next to Pikes Peak.

Hi Steve,
A beautiful shot. I do like the garden and the green garden in contrasting with the mountain and the blue sky. Thank for the information about the filter usage. It helps a lot to bring out the details. I like the road all of sudden disappear and come back again. It must be fun to drive on that road. An excellent composition and excellent shot. Well done.

Wow. As this picture was loading (I have dialup, so it was loading top to bottom about 1/2 an inch at a time) these mountains appeared to be but rocks in a field of bushes. Then the road appeared and the immensity of them shot out. Great shot, and great DOV.

wow, this one is shockingly well shot!
It is rich in color, composition and content. I must say, every single element here is of value, from the winding road and its edges, to the forest, to the boulders and to the sky, everything is extremely well contrasted!
Great shot. I really liked it.

Beautiful landscape and great use of the road for the composition. The colors are great and in my opinion the BW image doesn't have the same appeal.

Hi Steve!
Another fine shot of the Garden of the Gods! I like your POV and the colourful landscape! I watched your WS - it's a nice alternative. But if you ask me, I prefer the coloured variant!
Cheers, Thorsten

Hi Steve,
This is another nice and clear rock catch from you, but finally what catches my attention in this photo are the curves of the road I end up trying to follow the yellow line !!!
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Stephen, more of the garden of the Gods. If the Gods or good it sound great but as they are evil Gods.....
The B&W is nice but no option to me. The colours are too beautiful. I can't miss them here.

Hi Steve. Yes this was one of my favorite places in Colorado in 2003, the color palette of the deep reddish rocks, blue sky and all kinds of vegetation is really priceless and well captured in this photo. The meandering road creates a good lead-in and makes for a fun effect of appearing to be "swallowed" by the scenery.

Stephen.
I won't mention the colours and the fantastic scenery and the great sharpness.
The reason is the fantastic illusion of the road. Just amazing with its yellow center, red borders and the curves!
Thanks,
Magnus

Wow, you alreay have shown us lots of moutains, but this combination: mountains with a read (maybe nature versus human beings?) is very nice. Roads often give a very nice depth to the landscape, but here it looks very special, because of the lower part in the middle and the higher part of the road by the bottom. I like the way the lines of the road end in the edges of the photo. A favourite of me!

The road in the foreground really makes this shot, Steve. Very nicely balanced between the sky, vegetation and the featured rock formations.

Bonjour Stephen,
J'adore l'effet de denivelé de cette route qui s'enfonce dans cette verdure. Les deux grosses roches rougeatres sont tres impressionnantes. c'est absolument superbe !!!

I like the composition, Stephen - it's a classic example of good layered compo.
I also like how colour of road curbs matches the one of the rock formations.

Hi Stephen;
What an incredible picture. I have been looking in the past months for pictures of this area and Utah because I will also be going to the states that you have visited.
By the way, I do hope you get to visit the Tetons in Wyoming. I have been there in 2002 and that is why I now wish to visit more of your beautiful country.

Hi Stephen
I visited this spot late afternoon in November 2008. It's really hard to get a decent shot of this place, & this is a superb wide angled view. Tfs!
