Photographer’s Note
I was standin' on the rock waitin' for the wind to blow
I been standin' on that rock waitin' for the wind to blow
I been standin' on the rock waitin' for my seeds to grow
I been walking on the ground waitin' for the guns to quit
I been walkin' on the ground waitin' for the guns to quit
I been walkin' on the ground waitin' for the pieces to fit.
Better get back to the country look around and find you a home
Better get back to the country look around and find you a home
Better get back to the country that's where we all come from...

This is a shot dredged up from our 2004 Old West vacation - it is a view from Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is a beautiful park at the foot of Pike's Peak. Lots of rock outcroppings, trails, rock climbing, just a wonderful place. I think I used a whole memory card here that morning!
I can't really tell you the name of the formation in this photograph, all I remember was standin' on the rock... and this photograph made me think of that old song from about 1975.
If you would like to see or download (free!) a high resolution panorama of Garden of the Gods, visit Pierre-Alain's Wpanorama site - this link will take you directly to the panorama in a separate window. I created that panorama, too. You will not be disappointed by Wpanorama - there are 942 panoramas available there - some are just awesome!

Hello Reed! I wish I was standing on this rock right now but instead I sit on my office chair as many others I guess. Really nice how you lead our eyes over the rock, it feels like standing there myself. Interesting rock formations in the back, and yes the Colorado sky, the way I remember it so well. Very nice photo indeed, I like it a lot. Have a wonderful day, Barbara.

Hey Reed,
I like the way you composed this one with the crack leading the eye toward the mountain...Colors are great though I think this picture lacks some contrast due to the high noon sunrays - I've uploaded a WS where I boosted up the contrast and a bit of the color's saturation levels.
Thanks for sharing!

HI reed, the variety of your shots is amazing. This one's excellent. I really like how the FG has been taken up with the rock, its textures and tones are beautiful. The mountains in the BG really complement it. I can see why it's called Garden of the Gods! TFS, Lisa.
