Photographer’s Note
hi !
a new picture taken last summer near Boulder (CO). I have spent 6 weeks near Boulder to see a friend ... photography, hiking, western trip ... 6 weeks of enjoy, awesome landscapes and lights ... here is one of my 1500 pictures taken between Boulder (CO) and several National Park as Yellowstone, Arches, Great Sand Dunes and others . I hope one day i'll come back to conclude photographic project about them. For the moment, an article in preparation for a french mountain magazine about hiking near Boulder aera (Flat Irons, Long's Peak, Indian Peaks and Elbert Mount even if it's a bit farer).
This picture is taken in a prohibated area (damned !!) as American owners have doing so well ;) ... maybe a french obsession to not respect the law ;) This little peak provided such a view we cannot do not hike here :)
In the foreground, the Heil Valley Ranch and the Flat Irons far in the background ...
i have used Velvia Film for the colors and ND grad filter for the sky ...
Thanks for your comments !
Antoine

Bonjour Antoine -
This is an excellent image!! Your hiking friend adds the needed scale to the image so that anyone not familiar with these mountains will grasp the grandeur and scope. Fenced and closed lands is quite common here with everyone wanting their own piece of paradise and to hell with everyone else. When ever I find fenced lands in Colorado I assume they are Texans because most are. Texans will fence anything since Texas is a private land state while Colorado is mostly a public land state. I understand some peoples reason for fencing - a lot of people do not respect the land or the property and will leave trash, paint graffiti, and destroy buildings and fences. It really is a shame, because everyone should be able to be on this rock and experience what you did.
Did I say excellent image? Thank you for sharing

les couleurs et la lumière sont plutôt bien, la composition est parfaite, le point de vue est génialissime (interdire l'accès de cet endroit est abracadabrantesque), très bon cadrage... bravo!!!

Thanks Antoine for such a lovely shot.As John commented the figure does help us to appreciate the scale of the place.
What height had you reached when you took this shot?
The colours look natural;and there is good sharpness.
Your notes are very interesting too.
TFS, regards Jean.

Beautiful. I'm currently residing in Boulder, so I definately appreciate this image. I love how small the hiker looks compared to his surroundings. You definately get a feel for how wide open it is here. I like the inclusion of the rocks in the foreground, makes you feel like you are there.

Hi Antoine,
I love it.
You have really captured the vastness of my state perfectly ... your friend creates the scale to put it in perspective .. great greens and blues .. well set off by the foreground rock.
take care,
John

Hello Antione,
I live in Denver so I have been in Boulder quite a few times. An outstanding photo combining technical excellence with great artistry. You are very smart to carry a grad ND filter with you. The sky is perfect. I am glad that you went around the silly "no photography" rules.
