Photographer’s Note
I was instantly drawn to the remains of an old tree lying just below the surface of the Maroon Lake. I selected a suitable composition of a shot by positing the reflections from the clouds to avoid them interfering with the textures of the logs beneath the waters.
Maroon Bells in Snowmass Wilderness displays fantastic colors in the fall (late Sept) and it is a great place to visit for nature photographer. Most trails heads are easily accessible by car and crowds are relatively mild at that time of the year.

Hi Jay,
Very interesting foreground and wonderful colors. Good eye to have composed around the cloud. It made the shot along with your great use of the polariser.
Cheers!

The strength of this picture is what is underneath the water surface. I wonder if you saturated the colours of the mountain, they are (almost?) too much. Thanks for the upload, Jay.

Hi Jay,
Wow, the clarity and sharpness is stunning. I love the vibrant colors and the submerged tree being visible in the foreground is amazing. The clouds, the reflection, what more can I say? Very well done and TFS. Gerald

Hi Jay,
Very nice composition and colors.
And different from normal water and mountain shots with the underwater debris.
Congratulations!
Scott.

Just beautiful, Jay. Excellent exposure to capture both the submerged roots and reflected clouds. The depth of field keeps my eyes busy searching up and down in the photograph - great decision to use the portrait orientation, too. I really like this one, and noticed several others in your gallery that I can study, too, so I have added you to my favorites so I can come back for a lesson at a later time.
Thank you,
