Close to Copeland Falls
Lower Copeland Falls - Wild Basin Area - Rocky Mountain National Park
I posted an image of this fall on this day as my second post
to TE. I decided to post this different view because for me it has a whole different quality and mood from this distance.
This little set of falls is only 1/3 of a mile from the trail head .. but that is often full on the weekends or closed during the off season and it is a mile to the trail from where you can park. This is a wonderful trail full of waterfalls and cascades of various sizes.
I have posted several photos from this autumn day .. we had tried to go to a favorite stand of aspens of mine .. got close .. (and I got some nice autumn shots) .. but Andrew refused to get out of the car and hike up the mountain to the place I wished to go. So instead we drove down the mountain to Wild Basin .. and for some reason Andrew thought this was the place to be and we had a joyous walk to the falls.
As I got here it started sleeting (half way between snow and ice) .. to say the least we were not dressed for it .. it was a wet and cold walk back to the car. I snapped maybe 50 shots from a few POVs .. luckily a half dozen of the were not ruined by the sleet. .. and for those the dark sky was great for the long exposure.

I remember this one, I love the detail to the background and the rich yellow of the foreground. Looks like a lovely spot to sit a spell.

This is beautiful John. I love it. Great moving photo. I like how you set the shutter speed to 1/3 seconds, that helps to create motion there. Very well done in this low light place. My compliment! Sothy

You captured beautiful fall in splendid autumn colors while excellently transferring water flow to your frame. I like its white color in green and of course yellow leafs on trees too. Congratulations.

Your earlier version was also beautiful, but this one is a lot more pleasant.
A wonderful capture of that gorgeous fall and forest, with the motion blurr on the water and the nice Autumn colors.

Beatiful picture and good exposure, but I prefer the first picture because I like the little yellow tree on your first post. The forest in background is perfect.
But it's a really quiet place.

I hear the water dreaming but also the water thundering, soaring ... ! You really achieveda wonderful long exposure effect and it is amazing that just 1/3s were required for it. That shows how powerful it must have been!

I like the effect you have gotten from this long exposure. You have great DOF and sharpness with excellent color and lighting.

Hi John, Lovely shot here, absolutely!
The effect by the slightly longer shutterspeed is just very appropriate, not too long shutter, just fine! A very dynamic stream is the result. POV is nice, I love the vegetation on both sides, crisp colours and also a very nice scene behind and also a bit in the front. Wished we had such waterfalls in Holland..but I'm glad you catched this shot and that I've found it.
The other shot stays fine to. can't pick between them.

Happy new year, how are you?
Truly an excellent photo.
The POV here is perfect to capture the full impression of this waterfall. The motion in the water is excellent, not too dragged out either.
I had a look at the other photo you put a link to in the note.
I think that one is too general and it goesn't give the personal look too it as you have achieved here.
Thank you for sharing.
