Napa Sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

I took this photo from the balcony of my hotel room on Saturday in Napa, California. I had surprised my husband with a wine tasting trip to Napa Valley. We woke up really early (because of the 3 hour time change) and I was able to capture the sunrise. It was not colorful because it was so clear, but I liked the reflection of the sun in the Napa River. Napa Valley has roughly 450 wineries, many of which have tasting rooms for the public. We had a great time there. It's worth doing if you are ever in Northern California, slightly over an hour from San Francisco.

Maybe some don't but I do like that reflection in your lens of this bright sun reflected in the water towards a darker but well detailled landscape awakening, well done Alli.

The hexagon effect from the sun are cool. The composition is very well executed and the exposure level is good, too, considering the views of all the subjects, especially the lake. Is it a lake??

I like the reflection effects of the direct sunlight on the camera lens. The landscape seems really nice and the general composition is good, with an original light treatment. Thanks forsharing !

Hi Alli,
A great capture of the sunrise. The reflection really hits you here. Good framing with foreground greenery. My wife and I flew to Frisco in May and we rented a car, touring the Napa Valley, which was enjoyable; we actually prefer the northern portion of the valley. I like the perspective here of the mountains bathed in the first rays of the warming sun. Well done.

It looks like a movie scene with the two sparkling points balancing the subdued light around with a good effect.

Very nice shot, Alli. You've captured a deep blue sky and the highlights on the banners near the bottom really make this shot!

Hi Alli,
I like the sun and it's reflection here. Looks really cool, I agree with other photographers. It is hard to belive that you had not used filters here. Very attractive affect and view. Good shot, Bravo!
