Photographer's Note
Yosemite Natioanl Park is located inthe high Sierras of California. The valley was carved by glaciers during the last Ice Age. "President Abraham Lincoln signed an 1864 bill granting Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove to the State of California. John Muir helped spark the creation of Yosemite National Park in 1890."(www.nps.gov)
This view was taken from the Panoramic Trail, an 81/2 mile hiking trail that starts at Glacier Point and ends in Happy Isles, in the valley below(or the trail starts at Happy Isles and ascends to Glacier Point). The trail winds through a pine forest and crosses the Merced River in several places and connects to The John Muir Trail as well. There are at least 3 main waterfalls that the trail goes to and crosses upriver, the Ilillouette Falls, the Nevada Falls, and the Vernal Falls. Both the Nevada (farthest right), and the Vernal Falls can be seen in this photo. The large rock formation to the left of Nevada Falls is called Liberty Cap. The largest rock formation in the upper left corner is Half Dome. Where I am standing on the trail is about the 7,000 ft. elevation level.
I tried to convey a sense of scale and grandeur with this photo along with the most famous sites in the park.

Hello Karen,
When I was first driving across the country (to begin post-doc work at UCal-Berkeley) I wanted so much to see the valley, described as "...offering the most beautiful view in North America." I remembering uttering an audible sigh when I drove through a tunnel and saw the classical El Capitain on the left, Half-dome in center, Yosemite Falls on the right." But, this might be an even more beautiful, more comprehensive view of he valley.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Sweet photo Karen, were you taking the panoramic trail hike? Wonderful 12 mile hike that will take you to Nevada falls and then Vernal falls below. Excellent hike, but requires two cars, or a heck of a lot of hiking........LOL
Excellent capture from Glacier Point, one of the best places to take beautiful photo's just like this. Wonderful DOF and POV with great clarity and superb light management. I really wanted to go this weekend to Yosemite, but I have to babysit my granddaughter, which I have no problems doing, but would like her to be a bit older so I can take her hiking to beautiful places like this. Great Job Karen!!

Hi Karen,
an excellent composition, with a good framing for to share the natural beauty of this landscape with us.
The high POV creates a very deep and aerial image, and offers us great details of the mountains, the valley and the waterfalls, with a high aesthetic quality and a strong graphical effect.
It is a beautiful photo, with a nice light and vivid colors.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello Karen
Spectacular location, and very well-composed photograph. The colours are rich without being pushed too far, and the f8 aperture has given you plenty enough depth of field. Maybe your clouds are slightly "blown", but this is a minor detail. Gorgeous!

Howdy Karen,
Wonderful panorama of one of our magical places.
I never tire of our natural beauties, and you have created a fine view many never see, even ones who visit the Valley.
I have been on the Panoramic Trail only once and I can remember it being tough. My companion strained an ankle muscle and I had to give her a "piggy-back ride" the last few miles. ...Ouch. Hopefully you hiked downhill? Roundtrip would be really tough?
Keepup the fine works, travel and enjoy,
Sincerely,
Ray

Wow!
I wish I had taken this trail instead of walking down from Olmstead Point towards Half Dome. There was a wildfire while I was there and the sky was smoky most of the two weeks I was there.
Incredible view and you captured the scene with perfection, and just think, there is no noise from the falls in your image...

Hi Karen,
This a beautiful shot. I did the same hike over memorial day weekend. It was raining on Saturday and but it clear up nicely on Sunday. the view is truly spectacular as far as the eyes can see. I love your POV from the waterfalls down to the valley and including the backside of the Halfdom. Lovely light and warm colors.
