Photographer’s Note

Hiking the Mist Trail in Yosemite Village was both challenging and fulfilling. I learned first hand that the Mist Trail is so named for a specific reason - that you literally get deluged by the mist from Vernal Falls.
This spot shown in the photo provided a respite for hikers to dry up. I was wet and cold and tired but this photographer lost no time in setting his equipment up. His good spirits and passion for the craft inspired me to bring out my camera again.

Hi Seb,

Good spirits and passion for the craft resulted in a very nice silouette! Would have been nice to desaturate the rocks so that the rainbow would have been the only colour there. But I like it as it is as well.

You controlled the light very well here, got that rainbow nicely graduated, too.

Hi Seb,
Nice silhouette shot, a photographer in good shape has been captured with an attractive background, but he seems not to be a master of using of a tripod. The soft, smooth rendition of the falling water is truly wonderful.

The back light of this photographer on the background of waterfall and of rainbow is fantastic. It is a great stage setting.

Hey you,

I like the shooters upclose to nature. Like the potrait of a shooter's love for photography and not only that you manage to get the surrounding he is at with that rainbow captured as well. Good eye in composition, well presented too.

In regards to the note, everything requires dedication in what we do specially at things we do for a living like your job. I also believe that in photography dedication could sometimes be natural, effortless that is when you enjoy taking pictures.

Great pic and a perfect silhouette. I also think that the DOF is spot on as well, and the fact that there is a rainbow in it as well kind of makes it perfect! Thanks for taking it and sharing it. Regards, TW

Hello Seb, Like those before me have commented the silhouette is interesting as in the photographers outfit, especially his hat, & pose,very eye catching is also the contrast between the photographer & waterfall. The rainbow a lovely touch. Good capture, very effective result.

Fantastic shot Seb, the silhouette is right in our face with its overly strong definition, and the rainbow on teh water is a great effect.
