"Yosemite Park is a place of rest, a reguge from the roar and dust and weary, nervous, wasting work of the lowlands, in which one gains the advantages of both solitude and society. Nowhere will you find more company of a soothing peace-be-still kind. Your animal fellow beings, so seldom regarded in civilization, and every rock-brow and mountain, stream, and lake, and every plant soon cometo be regarded as brothers; even one learns to like the storms and clouds and tireless winds. This one noble park is big enough and rich enough for a whole life of study and aesthetic enjoyment. It is good for everybody, no matter how benumbed with care, encrusted with a mail of business habits like a tree with bark. None can escape its charms.
Its natural beauty cleans and warms like a fire, and you will be willing to stay forever in one place like a tree."
--- JOHN MUIR
This view of Yosemite National Park's surrounding mountains above the Valley is from the most popular stop from the west entrance - Tunnel View.

Another place I've yet to visit unfortunately!? I tell ya', this looks good for its age...and the black and white gives it quite a dramatic sensation to go along with the virtual and literal atmosphere. Neat how the clouds create their own natural framing around the left side of the frame, as if teasing us with a full view of these majestic mountains. Good contrast too, helping to define some of the dimension. Thanks for sharing an oldie but goodie. Enjoy the day ahead.

I visited many NP and I liked less Yosemite. When I look at the photos I can't understand why. But we were in wrong time, there was holiday and everywhere was horrible crowd. Besides, I expected to see impressive waterfalls but they were dried. So I was very disappointed. But I liked the area near Tyoga Pass. Here beautiful view of half Dome, I suppose. Interesting black and white treatment, fits well the dramatic clouds .
Thanks for sharing and warm regards Malgo

Hello Ray, good close up of Half Dome with the misty clouds enshrouding it. Mystery and beauty and repose. Always a welcome site to see Yosemite images. Starting to feel the pull to the mountains.
Wonderful quote that sums up the fell and mood of the wilderness from John Muir.

Ahh wouldn't our hero Ansell Adams be proud of this? I don't see B&W in your gallery much and would like to see more, as this is probably one of your best, certainly of the monochrome shots, with the definition and contrast, with the light superbly judged. Top job matey!

Beautiful! Almost as good as an Ansel Adams especially that it is in B&W. I like the effect of the low hanging clouds on the mood. Very well done, tfs.

You're capturing well this place by a good angle, a good perspective and excellent B/W tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the nature of Yosemite with huge rocks and snow. It's also effective for thick floating cloud.

I like the atmosphere of this picture - quite dramatic and mistic highlighted only by the B&W format. The fog in the left corner softens the sharp edges of the mountain and adds some more interest. Well given contrast and sharpness.
