Photographer's Note
"For my own part I am pleased enough with surfaces - in fact they alone seem to me to be of much importance. Such things for example as the grasp of a child's hand in your own, the flavor of an apple, the embrace of friend or lover, the silk of girl's thigh, the sunlight on rock and leaves, the feel of music, the bark of a tree, the abrasion of granite ...what else is there? What else do we need?" Form: Edward Abbey, The Serpents of Paradise, Henry Holt and Co. LTD. Picture taken in Joshua Tree National Park, California
Aperture priority, matrix metering. Scanned with Nikon CoolScan IV-ED. Cropped; all three pictures unified in contrast and lightness using Curves; resampled to 650 pix width; sharpened using unsharp mask from 40 to 55%, radius 2 pix. JPEG level 52 (Corel notation).

Looking at the thumbnails, this is the one of the three that really grabs at me. The textures, the shapes are really super nice. It's interesting how the texture is rough but the shape is rounded.

The blur rock on the left side is distracting.Ohterwise it would be a perfect pic. to me.
The form and the texture are well captured.
