Photographer’s Note
Tahoe Lake's Emerald Bay has the only island, Fannette Island. The Island is a 150 foot tall granite upthrust which survived the glacial carving of Emerald Bay.
On top of the Island is Mrs. Lora Knight's rock tea garden in the Scandinavian style. Mrs. Knight would boat friends from her nearby Vikingsholm home/castle for afternoon tea.
Fannette Island is 22 miles south of Tahoe City and about half that from the Highway 50 and 89 intersection in South Lake Tahoe.
