coming back to LA from that hurried weekend trip to fresno, i begged my friend aleli, that we stop an hour by the lake and get us a big plunge, she declined giving me an excuse that traffic would grow heavy if we don't hit the road early. all she gave me was 3 minutes to get out of the car and take few fotos. i know she was right about the crazy traffic in california and since that was sunday noon, everybody as expected is coming back to the city in time for work the following day. from LA she still will drive 2 hours more to her san diego domain.

about this lake- it is a freshwater lake 14 miles from the southern entrance to the yosemite national park. it is a hydroelectric reservoir operated by the pacific gas and electric company. in addition to electricity generation, its water is used for crop irrigation in the san joaquin valley.

most of the land around the lake is part of the sierra national forest. the US forest service designated the lake an official recreation area and has developed campgrounds and picnic areas on the south shore of the lake. the north shore is primarily made up of private cabins and homes. much of the areas surrounding the lake is devoted to the tourism industry. the lake is considered "warm water" lake with water temperature reaching 80'F in the summer months. fishing, swimming, water skiing, and use of personal watercraft are popular.

A suburb of paradise! This is a compelling shot of the lake, and I an see why you wanted to try out the water. The colors brilliant and the resolution sharp. And I see it was just a month ago in August that you took the photo.

This is a superb photo. The framing is beautiful with trees on the both sides of the photo. The colours are really nice, specially the water with different shades of blue is a treat to watch.

Hi friend,

well I don't need to say that this place is wonderful and makes me remember the old and great time I spent in California. I had one night in Fresno, I tried to enter the Yosemite Park but it was closed (winter time) and I had the chance to know that beautiful city San Diego, not to mention Sequoia National Park, etc, etc...Cafifornia is definitely a particular world (nature, cultures, etc). Thanks for remember me about that! I also don't need to say the capture is well done with nice natural colors and good additions such as the trees and stones on the foreground. Thanks for sharing!

I just can't believe it! You invaded my domain and didn't even bother in letting me know about it. I wish we would have had the opportunity to meet and have some fun in photographing a small portion of the Sierra. Bass Lake is a fun place and it really deserves more than just 3 minutes. Anyway, a nice capture of the place in wonderful colors and a godd framing with the two trees at each side.

Hello Benedict,

A simple image to enjoy on this warm Christmas Day. The FG is rather attractive, being composed of those boulders and plants. The water is rather inviting for a swim. The low laying hills offer a well balanced backdrop to the peaceful lake. Very pleasant.

Magnifique vue sur le lac, encadrée naturellement par les pins, et belle perspective. J'aime bien la composition avec la plage en diagonale et les rochers en avant-plan. Il doit faire bon s'y baigner à 80°F.
